A deal nearing its end.
A decision she must make.
And a truth that will change everything.
Living with Gage has introduced Eva to a world of passion and intimacy she never thought she'd ever find herself in. Her plans are falling seamlessly into place, and for the first time, her life feels almost perfect. But time is running out. Their 30-day deal is coming to a close, and with it, secrets about Gage begin to surface.
What awaits her at the end of the deal? Will their romance survive the deadline, or will it end with it?
Review:
I love it when you get a book, and you devour it in one sitting. This was one of those books. From the first page to the end, it kept the reader engaged in the storyline. Eva has made a deal with Gage - one month that would allow her to seek revenge upon the family that shut her out.
Book two picks up right where book one ends. Eva has seen something she wasn't supposed to, but she has pretty much written it off. I don't want to give too much out because it would be horrible to spoil this novel, but I recommend this series, especially if you have read the manga. It does explain a lot of things to you.
And to be honest, I don't know whether the manga has continued or not. So, pick this up if you are looking for the manga's continuation.

The fae abandoned this world to us. And the ones with power rule.
Gold.
Gold floors, gold walls, gold furniture, gold clothes. In Highbell, in the castle built into the frozen mountains, everything is made of gold.
Even me.
King Midas rescued me. Dug me out of the slums and placed me on a pedestal. I’m called his precious. His favored. I’m the woman he Gold-Touched to show everyone that I belong to him. To show how powerful he is. He gave me protection, and I gave him my heart. And even though I don’t leave the confines of the palace, I’m safe.
Until war comes to the kingdom and a deal is struck.
Suddenly, my trust is broken. My love is challenged. And I realize that everything I thought I knew about Midas might be wrong.
Because these bars I’m kept in, no matter how gilded, are still just a cage. But the monsters on the other side might make me wish I’d never left.
The myth of King Midas reimagined. This compelling adult fantasy series is as addictive as it is unexpected. With romance, intrigue, and danger, the gilded world of Orea will grip you from the very first page.
Review:
If a novel has a beautiful cover, don't trust it. I did that and found out that the cover was a deception for a storyline that was supposed to be a reimagining of the Midas myth. There is nothing special about the female lead nor was there anything particular about the storyline that was memorable.

Mia Adair isn’t even twenty-five yet, but she’s starting to wonder if her peak has already passed. She’s spent years working at her local bookstore, a job that was supposed to be temporary. As a kid, she experienced a strange sort of fame within the paranormal community thanks to her inclusion in a book that revealed Mia’s ability to talk with the dead. But that was then, and Mia’s “gift” dried up once adolescence set in. These days, she feels like she’s nobody special.
Until she dies in a tragic car crash and reawakens as a vampire…
Forced to leave behind everything she knew, Mia must choose to live with one of two rival vampire families. The Bellamy and Sutton clans share a dark, complicated history that spans centuries. As Mia learns about their age-old traditions and extraordinary powers, along with their forbidden romances and betrayals, she’s drawn toward two very different loves. And as she feels her gift returning, more potent than ever before, Mia realizes she’ll need it to protect innocent lives—and save the only family she has left.
Review:
There are no words to describe how horrible the writing is in this book. It needs an editor badly. I don't understand why this was released in this manner, and most of the characters were not particularly impressive. The only thing this book has going for it is the stenciled edges of the novel. Other than that, skip this book completely.

A fae rebel. A ruthless dragon commander.
And a deadly trial that will turn their lives upside down.
Trapped in the Seelie Court by a forest of thorns, Selena Hale lives at the mercy of the dragon shifters. Her only chance to gain her freedom is by entering the Atonement Trials: a deadly competition that pits fae magic users against each other. Only three people can win, and Selena intends to be one of them.
There is only one problem. Draven Ryat, the ruthless commander of the dragon shifter army, is determined to make her lose.
He symbolizes everything that she hates, and if he finds out that she is also a member of the secret fae rebellion, he will not only mess with her chances to win, he will kill her. But the more time she spends with him, the more she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him.
And nothing is more dangerous in a lethal trial than a distracted heart.
Especially one that beats for the enemy…
Review:
I tried, really tried, to find something about this novel I would like. I loved the premise of the novel. A young woman with interesting abilities is locked into a world of the Seelie Court, where the dragons are the actual rulers. Her abilities are unique, as she can manipulate a person's emotions on quite a scale if she wants. Draven is a grumpy dragon shifter who does everything within his power to try to dissuade her from becoming part of the Atonement Trials. The two bicker, not as adults, but as children. There is no chemistry there between them. So, this made it hard to connect with the characters. The world-building and storyline felt incomplete. The world-building just felt like it wasn't there. There is no story to tell us how this all comes about, and there is no lore as to why the dragons decided. So, there is nothing to help to understand the reasoning behind the trials. I think if there had been some lore or some explanations, I would have been okay with the novel and enjoyed it more than I had.

On a deadly mission to kill the mythical beast that has been haunting her woods, a desperate mage finds her fate intertwined with the handsome, powerful man who saves her in this dark and sexy romantasy—perfect for readers of Jennifer L. Armentrout, Callie Hart, and Holly Black.
There’s something in the woods…
When a vicious beast begins attacking her fellow villagers, Riela reluctantly agrees to enter the forbidden forest and kill the monster as she’s the only mage available—or so she thought.
Untrained and barely armed, Riela is quickly overwhelmed when one beast turns into two. She fears her death is at hand until the unexpected arrival of a scarred, strikingly handsome man with gleaming moonlit magic changes her fate—and provides a rare opportunity to learn more about her own fickle power.
After being rescued and healed from the beast’s poison, Riela awakens in a magical castle complete with a gorgeous library, a strange wolf, and the surly man who saved her life. She soon learns Garrick is both more powerful and far deadlier than a mere mortal mage—but thanks to a century-long curse, his powers are weakening.
Trapped in his castle and surrounded by the treacherous woods, the spark of attraction between Riela and Garrick slowly ignites into fiery desire. But the more they discover about Riela’s magic, the more suspicious Garrick grows of her identity. As they unravel the secrets and lies connecting Riela’s past to Garrick’s, the tenuous threads of trust between them start to fray.
Because Riela’s life—or her death—might be the key to regaining everything Garrick has lost.
Review:
I don't even know where to begin this review because, in all honesty, I DNF'ed this novel, and while I normally don't give any sort of rating, I will be giving this a one. The premise is promising, especially because of the whole theme of Beauty and the Beast. Unfortunately, that is where it ends for me. The leads are anything but likable. The female lead, an untrained mage (we are told this numerous times), finds herself living in a castle, cleaning room from room and eating sticky buns. To me, she comes across as a brat sometimes. Maybe it's just me. And the male lead is just as unlikeable.
Second, I love the beginning of the novel, where we are tossed into the action. There is no story told as to why Riela isn't liked in her community. There are brief mentions, but nothing solid to grasp onto and understand. Maybe it has to do with her father? I don't know.
Third, repetition. There is a ton of this within the novel. Case in point, the whole "untrained mage." We learned a lot about Riela being one until it had been drilled into our heads. I get it. She's untrained. She's looking for someone. You can tell us this every once in a while. Not all the time.
Fourth, I struggled with the romance. It lacked the chemistry a lot of romances have. I found it frustrating.
I'm sad this was my first DNF'ed book of the New Year because I had high expectations for this novel and it didn't deliver.
Thanks to NetGalley, Avon, Harper Voyager, and author Jessie Mihalik for the ARC. This review is my own opinion, and I am not being paid for it.

Meddy has spent her whole life as a footnote in someone else’s story. Out of place next to her beautiful, immortal sisters and her parents—both gods, albeit minor ones—she dreams of leaving her family’s island for a life of adventure. So when she catches the eye of the goddess Athena, who invites her to train as an esteemed priestess in her temple, Meddy leaps at the chance to see the world beyond her home.
In Athens’ colorful market streets and the clandestine chambers of the temple, Meddy flourishes in her role as Athena’s favored acolyte, getting her first tastes of purpose and power. But when she is noticed by another Olympian, Poseidon, a drunken night between girl and god ends in violence, and the course of Meddy’s promising future is suddenly and irrevocably altered.
Her locs transformed into snakes as punishment for a crime she did not commit, Medusa must embrace a new identity—not as a victim, but as a vigilante—and with it, the chance to write her own story as mortal, martyr, and myth.
Exploding with rage, heartbreak, and love, I, Medusa portrays a young woman caught in the cross currents between her heart’s deepest desires and the cruel, careless games the Olympian gods play.
Review:
This is actually my first novel from Ms. Ayana Gray and I have to say that I was impressed by this version of Medusa's story. A young, naive girl living on an island with her parents and her sisters when she causes an accident. Rather than allow someone else to take the fall, she stands up to take it, which impresses Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, War, and Crafts, and offers her to become one of her acolytes in Athens.
I love mythology retellings and I have come to love Medusa retellings because I think she is one of the most tragic figures out there when it comes to storytelling. A young woman with a bright future has her world torn apart by the most selfish god, Poseidon. Ms. Gray does an excellent job of telling her side and we watch Meddy's character grow throughout the book.
I also love the world-building of Athens. While Meddy's homeland is continually the same, we see different facets of Athens. It was rather fascinating to see different celebrations and life as an acolyte within Athena's temple.
Overall, I really recommend this novel, especially if you love Greek mythology.

In the breathtaking sequel to The Scorpion and the Night Blossom, the battle has just begun. With Àn’yīng’s kingdom teetering on the brink of destruction, and amidst a budding forbidden romance, she must now risk everything to protect her world.
A decade ago, the Kingdom of Night began the war against the Kingdom of Rivers, ravaging the lands and releasing mó—beautiful, ravenous demons—to roam free, drinking the souls of mortals. Now the mó have made it beyond the magical wards of the immortal realm—the Kingdom of Sky—and will not stop until the entire world falls to darkness.
Àn’yīng is determined to banish the mó to their realm and return the mortal realm to peace. But a stunning betrayal has turned the tides of this Her handsome rival from the Immortality Trials and the man she was falling in love with, Yù’chén, is now the enemy. Yù’chén is half mó, his mother none other than Sansiran, the Demon Queen of the Kingdom of Night . . . and the monster responsible for killing Àn’yīng’s father.
There is one hope for the future, though. The boy in the jade—Àn’yīng’s lifelong mystery guardian and heir to the last mortal Emperor—Hào’yáng. Together, Àn’yīng and Hào’yáng must join forces to rally an army that stretches across realms, from the Four Seas of the Dragons to the Phoenixes of the Golden Desert. But first she must awaken to the immortal power slumbering in her own veins.
Review:
The Dragon and the Sun Lotus is the final novel in a duology that takes place shortly after book one. Our female lead, Àn’yīng, has fled from the Kingdom of Sky after being betrayed by the one person she thought she could trust. Now, the Kingdom of Night has ruthlessly set out to destroy both the Kingdom of Sky and the mortal world and drown them in darkness. Àn’yīng and the boy in the jade Hào’yáng must join forces to rally an army to keep out the mó from entering other realms.
I loved this novel, but I also love the fact that it read like those outrageously beautiful fantasy Cdramas that I enjoy watching so much. I cannot put a finger on it, but there are quite a few that this novel reminded me of. Nevertheless, this duology is the first book that I have read by Ms. Zhao and it won't be the last one. The characters. The world-building. The storyline. I loved Yù’chén. I think he was my favorite among all the characters.
I also loved how well-fleshed out the characters were in this novel. There was a growth in these characters, especially in Àn’yīng.
Overall, this novel was entertaining and read like a beautiful Cdrama that drew you in and kept you captivated until the end of the novel. Pick this one up if you like Cdramas.
Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for this ARC. All reviews are my own.

He says I carry divine blood. That I belong to him. He takes me to his underground estate, to a luxurious, suffocating, inescapable prison. There, my body unravels. If L.V. Lane’s feral dynamics and Scarlett St. Clair’s vengeful gods keep you turning pages, this is your next obsession. In this dark Omegaverse Greek myth retelling, claiming is tradition, biology always wins, and divine bloodlines rewrite destinies.

Scientist and omega Dr. Cora Ellis has found a breakthrough that would help other omegas suppress their heat. She gives a presentation on her findings and draws the attention of two Alphas—Alexander Stormwright and Damon Blackwood. Each one belonging to one of the main Olympian houses of Zeus and Hades. But when Cora goes into heat, Damon kidnaps her and carries her back to his home, where she goes into heat.
I really enjoyed this novel. It is definitely different from other omegaverse novels that I have read in the past and I liked this one. The characters were interesting. The storyline was fascinating and to the point; it kept me reading from the beginning to the end of the novel.
Now, I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

From the bestselling author of the Kingdom of Lies series comes a slow-burn romantasy set in a Roman-inspired world ruled by merciless vampires. Filled with breathtaking combat, vengeful gods, and magical creatures, We Who Will Die is the epic first installment in an enthralling new series perfect for fans of Carissa Broadbent, Jasmine Mas, and Rebecca Yarros.
Life in the perilous Thorn district is a constant battle for Arvelle and her younger brothers. And the vampire standing on her doorstep is about to turn their world upside down.
Faced with an unthinkable choice, Arvelle makes a magically binding vow to do the impossible: kill the emperor, an ancient vampire created by the god Umbros. But first, she must enter the Sundering—an arena where only the fastest, strongest, and deadliest survive long enough to be selected for the emperor’s elite guard.
She quickly draws the ire of the Primus, the powerful figure charged with protecting the emperor. But the vampire under the armor is the last person Arvelle expects to encounter in the emperor’s court.
With her brothers’ lives in the balance, Arvelle has no choice but to ally with the man who once shattered her heart… and with the emperor’s sadistic son, Rorrik—two vampires whose motives are impossible to pin down. Rorrik holds the key to understanding the powers Arvelle is developing—abilities that would put a price on her head if discovered by the emperor.
To survive the arena and complete her mission, Arvelle must get to the bottom of a conspiracy that will change everything she thought she knew about herself—and the two vampires who are deeply entwined with her destiny…
Review:
Do you know how thrilled I was when I saw this was one of the Books of the Month and you could get your hands on it early? Oh, that was me, and I signed up for Book of the Month just for this book (okay, there might be others later on, but this one was well worth getting started with the BOTM club).
Our female lead, Arvelle, was champion of the Sands six years ago. Unfortunately, her wins were nothing compared to the loss she experienced. Since then, she vowed she would never set foot in the arena again. That is, until a vampire shows up on her doorstep with a deal that could save her younger brother from a deadly illness. The only thing is that she would need to re-enter the arena, win the tournament, and kill the emperor. The bad thing is she caught the attention of not only the Primus but also the emperor's eldest son, Rorrik.
The character development in the story was truly interesting. Each character felt well written and had their own unique personalities and flaws. Arvelle's character grows in response to the challenges that she had no choice but to face. Each challenge becomes more dangerous than the other and we see Arvelle adjust to this.
I also loved the love triangle, but then I have always enjoyed love triangles. We have two morally grey male characters and I love both of them. I don't know which male to root for. Well, never mind. I actually do. I like the darker male character more than the other, but then again, I am a sucker for the darker, brooding male with an agenda.
I absolutely loved the world-building. The mythology, the magical system, the gladiator fights, and Ancient Rome. Then again, anything historical fiction with romantasy elements has always been my jam.
Now I eagerly wait for book 2.

Into every generation, three women are called to slay, to sing the demons to their doom.
According to the demon who’s blackmailing Monroe Kang, she’s always been killing her own kind.
Monroe has never really thought of it that way. She’s never thought of herself as half-demon, though she’s always known a demon contributed to her DNA by forcing himself on her mother, and she’s always hidden that fact. She’s always thought demons were monstrous and soulless, barely better than animals. She certainly never thought they were capable of blackmail.
As a member of The Trine, Monroe is an international pop sensation, but it’s just part of the job. She and the other members perform to fund their demon slaying. It’s a tradition that stretches back a thousand years.
Now, suddenly, everything seems confusing.
One thing she can always count on is the other members of The Trine. They’re all best friends. They sing together, slay together, and most especially snack together. Snacks are very important. So, together, they are going to get to the bottom of this demon scheme.
Monroe has to get close to the demon to find out his secrets. She has to pretend to be sympathetic to his side. It shouldn’t be easy. He’s cocky and insulting. Of course, he does have dark hair that falls in waves around his cheekbones and a deep, husky voice.
Not that she finds him attractive.
She does not.
And no matter what he says, she’ll never believe that she’s truly one of his kind.
Review:
I wanted to like this book, I really did, because who wouldn't love the idea of a grown-up version of K-pop Demon Hunters? The story carried the same feel as the animated show: a group of girls who sing, love food, and slay demons to keep their world from being invaded. Unfortunately, one of the girls carries a secret--her parent was a demon. Same sort of script. The only difference is that the characters, the world-building, and the storyline fell flat.
I'm really sad about this because I had such high expectations for this novel. Extreme expectations since I loved the film, and I thought this novel would be pure fun for me to read. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

Navigating the treacherous world of politics and dealing with the handsome yet mysterious pope, Emilia must also face the consequences of her past choices and how they will reflect on the future of Dante.
Meanwhile, Prince Thessian’s journey takes a dark turn when his new sword imbues him with godlike powers and plays with the memories of the people around him. Forced to serve a deity he doesn't fully understand, Thessian struggles in the confines of his new shackles.
Can Emilia and Thessian overcome their daunting challenges or will the divine forces prove too powerful?
Review:
I love it when book series pick up from where they left off, and their characters have been growing immensely in development. Emilia and her crew have stuck together through everything, including the court politics, murders, and other events in the pages. Her journey toward the crown has begun to change everything in the novel, and the Gods of this world are using riddles to confuse her. It doesn't help that the mystery pope has developed quite an interest in her. So, where is that harem of hers? LOL. Honestly, this girl will need one (although I doubt the one she ends up with will appreciate it). Theo's struggle with his newfound powers has added an intriguing layer to the tension and growth of his character, hinting at a pivotal moment to come.
I loved this book. I love this series. Ever since I first discovered it and saw it was isakei (where a person is pulled into another world like a novel, and they can either change the trajectory of the novel or keep it as is). It continues to get better with each novel and I am looking forward to seeing how this entire series ends.

Review:
I love, LOVE it when the second novel in a series/duology/trilogy blows the first one out of the water and shows complete growth of all the characters in the story. Book two of Villains of Lore really improved Alexis's character a lot. She went from whiny to a large improvement in development. She learned to fight, she learned to stand on her own two feet, and she made her two husbands grovel for her forgiveness.
AND THEY DESERVED IT!
What they did to her book one nearly made me want to root for Patro and Achilles more than anything, but this book ended up changing my opinion on them and reverting me to being Augustus and Kharon (Karen LMAO) simp.
The world-building even improved by miles. We saw more Titans, we saw more fights, and betrayal. This is the kind of book that kept me glued from the beginning to the end, and I loved this book for that.
Also, the mini-story had me in fits of giggles.

Stripped of her Mind Magic and her freedom, Briony and the other survivors are quickly auctioned off to the highest bidders in an auction – and as the heir-apparent’s sister, she fetches the highest price.
After a fierce bidding war, she’s sold to none other than Toven a high ranking Bomardsun – and her long-time and ill-fated infatuation. Scion of a family known for their cruel control of Heart Magic, the Hearsts are ruthlessly ambitious, and Briony knows they will use her however they can to further their own interests.
Yet despite the horrors of her new world and the role she must learn to play within it, all is not lost. Help – and hope – may yet arise in the most unlikely of places…
Review:
Okay, hear me out: I have never read The Auction (haven't been in the Harry Potter universe for a loooong time) and went into this story blind. I wanted my expectations to be high, and it delivered what I was hoping for.
Briony's
I literally devoured this book in a scant few hours. I had time on my hands, and this book had been plaguing me to read it. I was going blindly into this story. It had been based on a Harry Potter fanfiction named The Auction. I will be honest: I had not read it, as I had stopped being part of the HP universe years ago, but I loved Dramione and wanted to try it. From what I had gathered, the premise was the same as the fanfic itself, but it was changed and freshened for the mainstream public.
I LOVED the magical system. I don't want to give too much away about it, especially to those who have not yet read the book, but you will find the system interesting and want to learn more about it. But there is also a prophecy that may sound a bit familiar to you.
The only thing I had against the novel was that some parts seemed to slow down, and I nearly considered dropping the novel, but I wanted to press on...wanted to know what happened toward the end.
And what the hell!? THAT ENDING SHOULD BE CRIMINAL! Now I am going to have to wait til next year (?) before the second book comes out.

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.
With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.
She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.
Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die
Review:
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail had been preparing to join the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among the books and history. But her mother, the commanding general, has other ideas for her future: she will go to Basgiath War College, where she will be one of hundreds of candidates competing to become one of the elite members of Navarre, the dragon riders.
But Violet's body is smaller and more fragile than others, and she must survive everything that is thrown at her, including those who still have a vendetta against her mother. Even more concerning are the dragons, as they do not bond with fragile humans but incinerate them.
With there being fewer dragons to bond with humans, Violet has a large target on her back, and those who wish to prove themselves worthy of being a rider will do everything to make sure she is out of their way.
Okay, okay, I am not going to lie, but the overhype of this book had me worried. The last time I let booktok and others convince me that I would like a book, I ended up hating it and vowing never to read another. Since I had this book already, I thought I would try to get this out of the way, and honestly, I am glad I spent the time to read. It was the world that had me hooked. I mean, who wouldn't love to have a storyline with a school filled with dragons, and this is not the type of story where the dragons are friendly. No, they are dangerous. They will incinerate you if you show an ounce of weakness. This is the type of dragon story I like.
Violet has a disability, which is a nice change from the many female characters in the fantasy realm. Normally, they are healthy. Beautiful. Kick ass. Violet has a disability. Her bones are fragile and her body is small, but none of this deters her from becoming (or being forced, if you look at it from a different angle) a dragon rider. She is also quite aware that because of her mother, she has a large target on her back, and her biggest threat is Xaden, the son of the Rebellion’s late leader. He was forced to attend the Basigath War Academy just like any of the children belonging to the families that were once part of the rebellion. All of this to prove their loyalty. Xaden rose in ranks to become Wingleader, but when Violet shows up, he is less than thrilled to have her among the cadets, and much like the rest of the children from the rebellion, he isn't going to allow her to live long enough to graduate.
The only downside to this story was the fact that it felt slow at the beginning. There were even times I thought I was going to have to put the book down, but I was determined to plow through. I'm glad I did because I ended up loving the book, the characters, and the world-building. The dragons were just an added bonus.

A woman who wields magical tarot cards lands herself in a false engagement with the headmaster of a mysterious academy in this first installment of an enthralling fantasy romance series from the bestselling author of A Deal with the Elf King.
Clara Graysword has survived the underworld of Eclipse City through thievery, luck, and a whole lot of illegal magic. After a job gone awry, Clara is sentenced to a lifetime in prison for inking tarot cards-a rare power reserved for practitioners at the elite Arcana Academy.
Just when it seems her luck has run dry, the academy's enigmatic headmaster, Prince Kaelis, offers her an escape-for a price. Kaelis believes that Clara is the perfect tool to help him steal a tarot card from the king and use it to re-create an all-powerful card long lost to time.
In order to conceal her identity and keep her close, Kaelis brings Clara to Arcana Academy, introducing her as the newest first-year student and his bride-to-be.
Thrust into a world of arcane magic and royal intrigue, where one misstep will send her back to prison or worse, Clara finds that the prince she swore to hate may not be what he seems. But can she risk giving him power over the world-and her heart? Or will she take it for herself?
Review:
I LOVED this book! I loved the magical system. I loved the characters.
Clara Graysword has survived everything that has been thrown at her. Unfortunately, that luck ends when she is captured and thrown into one of the biggest prisons. Enter Prince Kaelis, who offers her a chance to escape, but for a price. He believes that Clara is his best tool to help retrieve a tarot card from the king and use it to re-create a card thought to be a myth. But for that to happen, Kaelis will have to create a new identity as not only his bride-to-be but also a student at his academy.
This world is based on the usage of the tarot cards, having the ability to ink them, and their usage. This was a unique world. The school is divided much like Hogwarts, except that you have to be chosen simply by a coin given to the person. It really is a unique world, and the storyline draws you into this world with Clara as if you were in her shoes.
I was sucked in from the moment of the first page until the last, and I didn't realize how late it was until I finished the novel. I spent an entire night with the book in my hands, engrossed with the characters, the mystery, and the magical system.
If you are looking for something unique in its storytelling and world-building, this is definitely something I would recommend.

In a colonized land where tigers are being hunted to extinction and ancient magic stirs, two star-crossed teens from opposite worlds—Lee Seung, a servant yearning for freedom, and Choi Eunji, a noble girl defying tradition—join forces to try and reshape their respective fates.
But their relationship evolves from begrudging accomplices to bitter adversaries as they soon find themselves on opposite sides of a battle over the last tiger, a symbol of their people’s lost freedom and key to the liberation of their country. As the ties between Seung and Eunji are complicated by their conflicting loyalties, tensions rise—especially when a charming princeling of the empire begins to rival for Eunji's affection.
In this friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story of forbidden romance, antagonists turned allies, oppression and liberation, neither Seung nor Eunji can abandon their mission—or each other. And as they embark on separate quests to find the elusive creature, each must also find the power within themselves to make their own destiny.
Inspired by true stories from the authors’ grandparents’ lives during one of the darkest periods in Korean history, The Last Tiger is a debut young adult fantasy novel about the power of love to give voice to a silenced people.
Review:
With their land colonized by the oppressive regime of the Dragon Empire, Choi Eunji, a young noble girl desperate for freedom, and Lee Seung, a young servant wanting a better life for himself. A land colonized by the empire is now hunting down the last remaining tigers to remind the rest of the country who is now in charge of their lands. Eunji and Seung meet at a tiger-slaying ceremony and the two decide to work together to change their futures.
So, I had this book on my radar ever since the moment I caught sight of it at a local bookstore. The premise sounded promising and the world-building had excellent bones to it. The characters were fleshed out and the little notes left by the real-life grandparents made me invest so much further with it. I absolutely loved Eunji and Seung. Both strong. Both are looking to change their lives—Eunji wanting to be free from the restraints of a life her father has written for her and Seung wanting a far better life than the life in the mines and servitude.
If you are looking for something filled with magic and forbidden romance, then look no further than this book.

Viper is the first book in a series of Bride Hunting Aliens. With the charm of a snake, and the wiles of a devil, these males will do anything, and I mean anything, for their females.
Review:
Enter a dystopian Earth where humans are the aliens...
Gemma, our female lead, is part of a mission to gain access from a dystopian Earth to keep an alien menace known as the Lurkers from attacking them. When they learn the snakelike people of Earth have it, the males offer up the females for the snakemen to hunt and mate with them.
Vruksha, our male lead, is a pit viper and he has been watching Gemma ever since he first laid eyes upon her; he decided right there and then that she was the one he wanted.
The Naga males make a deal: the technology for the right to hunt and mate with a female. Vruksha wants the red-haired Gemma and he will do anything to take her.
You know, I had a hard time trying to decide whether I loved this novel or hated it. I found myself finally leaning toward the middle, where I have no love nor hate for it. The world-building has some solid bones, but I felt it was missing something. Not quite sure what it was. I am assuming a bit of history because it did make the world slightly confusing, as it doesn't tell us how or why the humans left the Earth, what sort of things the Lurkers are, and what happened mainly to the female Naga species. Maybe I missed something of the latter.
As for the characters themselves, I am on the fence completely, especially with the whole 'me Tarzan, you Jane' mentality that came from Vruksha, but I suppose it is to be expected from a set of snake males who have been waiting for a long time for females.

At Bloodwing Academy, blood is currency, but a dragon's legacy is priceless—and as dangerous as fire.
I thought surviving my first year in Bloodwing's deadly halls would be enough. I was wrong.
I accidentally woke a dragon—a creature of myth, of death, of fire.
Now every highblood house wants control over me and the dragon's legacy I carry. But here's the truth: I have no control. I'm bluffing my way through every encounter, trying to keep everyone from realizing that I'm not the one pulling the dragon's strings.
And then there's Blake Drakharrow. I thought he was on my side, that I might even be able to trust him. But he betrayed me. Now I'm his only blood source. How messed up is that? In a place like Bloodwing, where power and survival are everything, this bond may well be the death of us both. Unless I can find a way to end it.
In this world of vampires, dragons, and lies, there are no happy endings. Just legends—and the darkness it takes to make them.
Review:
How does one come back from such an ending as this one? I was on the edge of my seat waiting for something BIG to happen when it looked like the story faded to black with the words: To Be Continued Soon. I think it literally took me a few moments to let it process in my head that I would have to wait for book three to come out in 2026.
The ENDING broke me. I was not sure what to expect when I came into this novel, but I wasn't expecting that. I think I even cried a bit because of it. Literal tears running down my face. xD I have come to love, not only the main characters, but the secondary characters as well. I have grown attached, watching all of them form a family bond. Unfortunately, to see one of them hurt was just so heartbreaking.
If one were to describe the relationship between Blake and Medra, it would be "where there is smoke, there is fire." That relationship is scorching hot. They have their moments of seared romance before an ice-coldness forms between them. The one thing is that Medra doesn't trust Blake all that much. He has betrayed her in the past, and it is understandable. I would like to see that change a bit. I don't believe Blake is all that bad. He is pressured, but he is a yandere male determined to keep Medra away from other men.
I am quite looking forward to book three now. *-*

A half-fae in a school of highblood vampires? That's a recipe for torment.
I'm Medra Pendragon—last of the dragon riders, or so they tell me. Funny thing is, there are no dragons left. Not a single one. But somehow, that hasn't stopped the vampires from deciding I'm worth capturing. Now I'm stuck at Bloodwing Academy, where the highbloods run everything and blightborn like me? We're just blood in their veins, pawns in their games.
But that's not even the worst part. Enter Blake Drakharrow. Cold, arrogant, and way too gorgeous for his own good. He's been tormenting me since the moment we met, and now, thanks to some ancient ritual, we're betrothed. He acts like he owns me, but I'm not going down without a fight.
Bloodwing isn't just a school—it's a battlefield. Highbloods fight for power, and if you're weak? You're dead.
Between deadly competitions, lies that could get me executed, and a dragon-shaped secret looming over my head, all I have to do is survive. Easy, right? Except I'm starting to think the real danger isn't the academy—it's what I'm becoming in this twisted game of power.
And Blake? He might just be the one who pushes me over the edge.
They think they can control me. They think they can use me.
But they have no idea what they've awakened.
On Wings of Blood is a dark academia fantasy romance featuring a bully villain with Draco Malfoy energy who (eventually) gets the girl, all the tension and banter, and a tantalizingly dangerous blend of court and school intrigue all set in an intricately crafted world with unique vampire and dragon lore. Bloodwing Academy may have crossover characters from the world of Blood of a Fae, but can be read completely independently.
Review:
The one thing about this book that sold me was the Dramione vibes I had been told it was giving off and while that was true, it was only to an extent. The world-building was intriguing but not fleshed out enough for me. I would have loved more...more about the school, its houses, and the vampire families that run it. I know we see things through the eyes of Blake and Medra, but more would have made it complete.
Medra, while I do see her as a strong female lead, there were times I wanted to throttle her. She could not decide whether she wanted Blake or if she didn't. She really needed to make up her mind because these games were beginning to grow boring after awhile.
While Blake may not have been there when Regan pulled her crap, he also knew and did nothing to stop it. So, in a way I do consider him a slight bit of a bully. Not a full one, but not a big one either, because he does prove that he is a yandere for Medra. Case in point, he took the fall for their fight. He really didn't have to and let her receive punishment, but he didn't and I saw that as he wasn't entirely what Medra thought he was.
I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

In this riveting dark fantasy debut, a woman with missing memories fights to survive a war-torn world of necromancy and alchemy—and the man tasked with unearthing the deepest secrets of her past.
“What is it you think you’re protecting in that brain of yours? The war is over. Holdfast is dead. The Eternal Flame extinguished. There’s no one left for you to save.”
Once a promising alchemist, Helena Marino is now a prisoner—of war and of her own mind. Her Resistance friends and allies have been brutally murdered, her abilities suppressed, and the world she knew destroyed.
In the aftermath of a long war, Paladia’s new ruling class of corrupt guild families and depraved necromancers, whose vile undead creatures helped bring about their victory, holds Helena captive.
According to Resistance records, she was a healer of little importance within their ranks. But Helena has inexplicable memory loss of the months leading up to her capture, making her enemies wonder: Is she truly as insignificant as she appears, or are her lost memories hiding some vital piece of the Resistance’s final gambit?
To uncover the memories buried deep within her mind, Helena is sent to the High Reeve, one of the most powerful and ruthless necromancers in this new world. Trapped on his crumbling estate, Helena’s fight—to protect her lost history and to preserve the last remaining shreds of her former self—is just beginning. For her prison and captor have secrets of their own . . . secrets Helena must unearth, whatever the cost.
Review:
I had a high expectation for this novel. It came from one of my favorite pairings in the Harry Potter universe. I had been hearing praises of the novel. People encouraging others to pick up this thick book and immerse themselves in what had once been a famous fanfiction but is now traditionally published.
Unfortunately, I was one of those fools who thought I would love this book...that it would be one of my favorites of the year, but it fell short. So, very short. The book and characters were boring. The plot lagged like WiFi with thousands of downloads on it. No matter how many times I placed down the book and came back to it, nothing changed.
Will I pick up this book again? No, I doubt it.
