It hadn't been a priority at the time, and eventually he'd just forgotten--his Pokegear has remained buried at the bottom of his pack throughout the journey to Violet City.
The only reason it's been unearthed is his curious little Eevee, who's turned it on somehow and is carrying it around in his mouth, showing a dizzy, baby-Eevee's eye view tour of the room the traveling group has set up in.]
Jules? What have you gotten into?
[There's a jerk as the Eevee's picked up and turned to face Alfons.]
Oh, you found this thing, didn't you? Smart boy.
Come on, everyone's waiting outside. If we take too long, Edward's Aron might try chewing on his foot again.
[Alfons takes the 'gear and puts it in his pocket. ...yeah he doesn't realize it was on. It times out after a few more moments.]
