I took a quick look through the initial platforms of the 7 candidates running for the 4 open positions on the OTW Board, and decided to write up a quick summary on Twitter. Crossposting here for those who can't easily access the blue hellsite.

All opinions my own, obviously. It's pretty clear to everyone who engages with me over there that I stand in solidarity with #EndOTWRacism and in solidarity with Stitch and Dr. Rukmini Pande, who are one of the few consistent voices pointing out racism in fandom (and getting nothing but harassment for it).

I condemn the recent actions of synecdochic / denise in directing more harassment toward Stitch and attempting to undermine anti-racist action by doubling down on being racist.

All opinions below my own.

I guess that’s it for now! I haven’t voted since 2020, when I felt burned by the lackluster candidates. I participated in the first #EndOTWRacism action, and will participate in the second, which is a call to #VotetoEndOTWRacism.

My initial thoughts are at the platforms are thoughtful and make headway on addressing the recent concerns and revelations about the OTW. I am actually tentatively optimistic that replacing a majority of the Board will be a (small) step in the right direction.
