🌍 Innovating for Youth and Food Systems Transformation in Ghana 🌱 In Ghana, World Food Programme Africa is advancing youth-led innovation to reduce post-harvest losses and strengthen food systems, building a scalable pipeline for inclusive agricultural transformation. 🚀The AgroChampions BRIDGE Model is a market-driven, systems approach creating dignified employment for youth while promoting loss-reduction technologies such as solar dryers, improved storage and value-added processing. 📊 In 2025, the initiative directly engaged 5,000+ youth farmers and reached over 100,000 young producers. It reduced investment costs by more than 50 percent and enabled 80 percent of participants to secure market access, even during a national produce glut. 💼 At the same time, partnerships with agribusinesses and the introduction of virtual career development centres in agricultural colleges are strengthening workforce readiness and linking education to real-world opportunities. 💡 Key lesson: youth-centered, market-driven innovation can deliver scalable, system-level impact.

Every day, WFP moves food and assistance across some of the world's most complex operating environments. Making the right decisions quickly is critical. PRISMA is WFP's supply chain control tower, bringing data from across the organization into one place to help teams track shipments, anticipate disruptions, prevent pipeline breaks and plan distributions more effectively. In 2025, PRISMA helped: 🌱 Manage over 80% of all food handled by WFP 💰️ Deliver USD 3.9 million in cost efficiencies ⏱️ Save more than 26,000 staff hours By giving country, regional and headquarters teams a shared, real-time view of operations, PRISMA helps ensure assistance reaches communities when and where it is needed. 🎥 Watch the video ft. 🌍 Innovating for Scale and Impact in Kenya 🌱 In Kenya, World Food Programme Africa is delivering a mature, multi-sector innovation portfolio spanning food systems, resilience, youth employment and finance. They have reached hundreds of thousands of food insecure small holder farmers and young people. 🚀 In 2025, the WFP Kenya Innovation team delivered nine projects and three programmes, ranging from clean cooking in schools and soil-health analytics to market access through the Farm to Market Alliance and youth employment via Vijana in Kilimobizz. 📊 Partnerships also drove scale: through collaboration with the World Bank’s AgTech Accelerator, six agrifood startups strengthened investment readiness, reaching 100,000 people and contributing to a scalable incubation model shared with government and partners. 🌾 At the same time, hydroponics in schools expanded to 15 schools in Nairobi’s informal settlements, benefiting 25,000+ students, with a pathway toward reaching 10 million children by 2030 through national integration efforts. 💡Key learning: Strong ecosystems, strategic partnerships, and diversified innovation portfolios are critical to achieving impact at scale.

A couple of weeks ago, our office was buzzing with inspiring conversations, fresh ideas and new connections focused on climate 🌍 As a founding member of the Munich Climate Week (MCW) initiative, the WFP Innovation Accelerator hosted an MCW partners gathering at our office, bringing together representatives from organizations working across climate, sustainability and circularity. Munich Climate Week, taking place from 19-25 October 2026, is a city-wide, community-led initiative that will unite more than 300 partners and 300 events across Munich, all working towards a more sustainable future. The event provided an opportunity for MCW partners to share updates, exchange notes and strengthen connections across Munich's growing #climate community. It was inspiring to see so many passionate individuals and organizations come together around a shared commitment to driving meaningful environmental and social impact. 📸Here are a few snapshots from the evening! Sanku has always had an ambitious vision for the future: a world without hidden hunger, a deficiency in key micronutrients. After years of innovating, Sanku has grown from a single fortification machine to a multinational venture reaching nearly 70 million people a day, helping them access fortified foods with those key micronutrients. We have worked with Sanku for many years, helping them expand their market access and refine their innovation strategy. At each step, they have moved forward with a clear sight on improving nutrition outcomes for those who need it. Recently, WFP's Maurizio Blasilli and Jorge Fernandes joined the UN 2.0 Solutions Expo: Blockchain Edition, where more than 280 participants from across the UN system and beyond came together to exchange insights on blockchain and distributed ledger technologies. During the session, Maurizio and Jorge shared how WFP is exploring and applying emerging technologies to strengthen impact and deliver better outcomes for the people we serve. The expo showcased real-world use cases and lessons learned from across the UN ecosystem, highlighting how blockchain is being used to support collaboration, transparency and digital transformation.
