𝗔 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴. One that doesn't just understand language, but the physical world. Over the past years, advances in AI have transformed how machines process information. Yet one of the hardest challenges remains unsolved: enabling autonomous systems to perceive, reason about and act within complex real-world environments. At SE3 Labs, we've been working on that challenge from day one. Today, we're sharing more about the technology, the team and the mission behind SE3 Labs at Handelsblatt, Sifted and der-spiegel: building the Spatial AI layer for the next generation of autonomous systems. Our technology transforms raw sensor data into a continuously evolving 3D understanding of the environment, enabling autonomous systems to navigate without GPS, understand complex terrain and coordinate across aerial and ground platforms in real time. We believe that spatial understanding will become a foundational capability for the next generation of autonomous systems, just as language understanding became foundational for today's AI systems. Thank you to Nadine Schimroszik, Martin Hesse and Anne Sraders for the insightful discussion about Spatial AI, autonomy and the future of intelligent systems. This is just the beginning. We are proud to announce our Memorandum of Understanding with ERC System - a strategic partnership at the intersection of advanced autonomy software and hybrid-electric aviation platforms. ERC develops hybrid-electric eVTOL platforms for demanding commercial and defense missions. We contribute the AI autonomy layer: onboard intelligence that enables systems to plan, navigate, and decide independently, even in degraded environments. Our technical collaboration will focus on autonomous mission planning and navigation in GNSS-denied environments, intelligent landing site detection, swarming and teaming concepts, and the development of future intelligent eVTOL and UAV platforms capable of understanding and adapting to their environment. Together, we are working to make truly autonomous, mission-capable unmanned systems a reality. #AutonomousSystems #DefenseTech #eVTOL #Autonomy

Important conversation at TECH by Handelsblatt on what it takes to scale European deep tech globally. We are pleased to contribute to this exchange and to the broader discussion around Europe’s technology ambitions. #TECH2026 #VoicesofTECH #DeepTech #Europe

Great discussion at TECH by Handelsblatt yesterday on Europe's next generation of technology moonshots. One takeaway stood out: Europe has world-class research, engineering talent and industrial know-how. The challenge is translating these strengths into technologies that achieve global relevance and scale. Thanks to Johannes Lintzen  (PQShield) for sharing the stage with me and to Nicole Bastian and Solveig Gode for leading the conversation. We are proud to form part of the LATACC2 consortium, a project granted by the European Defence Fund. The programme focuses on advancing collaborative land tactical combat - enabling near real-time coordination between manned and unmanned systems and strengthening integration with air assets through a modular and resilient digital architecture. Our contribution focuses on GNSS-denied navigation for UAVs as a critical enabler for operations in contested environments. Programmes like LATACC2 matter because they bring together industry, research, and technology companies to build capabilities that work across domains and partners and not just in isolation. We are pleased to contribute to this effort and to work alongside a broad consortium of European defence partners. #Defencetech #Europe #AI

Great to see our work reflected in the broader discussion around AI-enabled systems and operational requirements, and to be part of the important exchange at NextGen Air Control demonstration by Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub. It was a pleasure to work with the team HIGHCAT and show how drones can be controlled in contested and denied environments to complete their mission.

The Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg #rbb24 report on the NextGen Air Control demonstration highlights an important shift in how defense capability is built: https://lnkd.in/d2yicFzi Formats like this, enabled by the Bundeswehr Cyber Innovation Hub, bring technology developers and operators into direct exchange around real-world requirements. That’s where meaningful progress happens. At the same time, progress doesn’t happen in isolation. It builds on close collaboration across the broader defense ecosystem and continuous engagement with partners. My co-founder Simon Klenk shared more from a technological perspective, particularly on the role of AI in scenarios where traditional systems like GNSS are degraded or unavailable, and on how we approach these challenges. Together with the great team HIGHCAT, we showed how drones can be controlled in contested environments to complete their mission.

Delighted to introduce Anna Sonnweber, Founding Engineer 3D Computer Vision and AI at SE3 Labs, as our Women in Defense Tech Role Model! 🔘 Dear Anna, could you walk us through your background and what led you into spatial AI in defense? Anna: I joined SE3 Labs to apply state-of-the-art computer vision and 3D perception research to practical defense problems, where robustness and real-time performance are key. I studied Informatics at Technical University of Munich with a strong focus on mathematics and computer vision, and became fascinated with making autonomous systems perceive and understand the 3D world. During my master’s, I spent two years as a working student at the TUM Computer Vision Group led by Prof. Daniel Cremers, who co-founded SE3 Labs. After working in research, I joined SE3 Labs to bring these high-level concepts into practical defense applications. As a founding engineer, I help build technical solutions that translate cutting-edge research into deployable systems. Working in a fast-moving startup allows me to stay close to scientific progress while contributing to tangible real-world impact. It is important to me that my work supports the protection of European sovereignty and shared values. 🔘 In a real reconnaissance mission, how does your technology enhance the operator's experience? Anna: Reconnaissance is information-dense and time-critical. We focus on giving operators intuitive access to mission-relevant information without drowning them in raw sensor data. Our SpatialGPT fuses multi-modal inputs into a consistent spatial representation that’s queryable in real time. This helps operators to retrieve relevant observations and run automated analysis pipelines. It reduces cognitive load for the operator while improving speed and decision quality. 🔘 In a GNSS-denied environment, how can spatial AI support navigation and situational awareness? Anna: When GNSS is unavailable or jammed, we must rely on onboard perception for navigation. Spatial AI enables systems to localize, map, and reason about their surroundings using vision and other sensors. These systems maintain situational awareness and operational continuity where conventional navigation would fail. This is highly critical for contested environments, where jamming, spoofing, and degraded connectivity are realistic baseline conditions. 🔘 What is the future of spatial AI on the battlefield? Anna: The focus remains on supporting personnel in complex operational environments, with strong emphasis on practicality and robustness under real-world conditions. AI serves as a supporting capability working in synergy with human operators, transforming large volumes of sensor data into mission-relevant information rather than additional complexity. The emphasis is on intuitive access to sophisticated analysis, enhanced information gathering and more effective mission planning. The goal is to empower operators to make faster and more informed decisions.
