Other Characters: Four, Shredder, Boulder, Breakdown, Cupid, and Swindle
Name: Cheetor
From: Transformers: Animated
Appearance:
Age: Around 400? Very young by Cybertronian standards
Gender: Male
Personality: What do you get when you have a young, overeager, single-minded, daredevil speedster who is almost desperate to prove himself? Well you have Cheetor of course, and after going through several partners on the Cybertronian Police force, it’s very clear that he isn’t an easy guy to put up with. He doesn’t see it as his fault though, all the old bots just can’t keep up with him, and he always catches the perps in the end right? Isn’t that what matters? Apparently not, since his tendency to recklessly throw himself into battle, and the fact that he never pays attention to the damage he causes while he’s in battle/chasing down someone, has caused him to be demoted in a record time after joining the force.
Sideswipe, his older now-retired partner, remarks that Cheetor has instincts... it’s just that they aren’t always good instincts, as Cheetor’s body moves faster than his processor. Thinking things all the way through is not one ofthis young punk’s Cheetor’s stronger skills, which everyone notes not long after meeting him. When it comes to running, Cheetor is in his element. He knows he’s faster than most other bots, and he’s damn proud of it. The only other Autobot faster than him is Blurr, and Cheetor is determined that one day he’ll be every bit as fast, if not faster, than the well-known speedster. Aside from Blurr, Cheetor idolizes Optimus Prime, the hero who saved Cybertron from the legendary evil Megatron, and was currently trying to help with the Decepticon threat. He hopes that he’ll also become a hero someday, but that’s not going to happen in boring, safe Iacon.
Cheetor has never left the planet before, and the only thing he knows about organics are the stories told about them. Organics are horrifyingly evil little things that spew poison and can rust you inside out if you let one get too close, being contaminated by an organic is a fate worse than death. Not only that, their planets are deathballs, and anyone who goes to them almost never come back. This just serves to make Optimus Prime and his crew even more amazing, since they’ve survived the experience for a whole stellar cycle. Cheetor is a very impressionable kitten. One who, despite his youth, clearly knows better than everyone else.
Backstory: Cheetor is filled with experimental technology which aids him greatly with his speed. Because of this, he’s stuck on the police force for... whatever reason, and he tries his hardest to prove that he’s a great cop and that he can totally use his speed to help people. Unfortunately, after tearing up two whole blocks chasing down two bots for a moving violation, he was demoted Transtech to Iacon central (in record time), a decision that utterly dismayed him. Everyone knows that being a “beat cop” is, like, the worst thing ever, and nothing ever happened in Iacon, so how was he going to see some action?
Once he was there, he was immediately partnered with Sideswipe, a legendary cop who had been known to be quite the daredevil himself in his younger days. Sideswipe was only days away from retirement when Cheetor came aboard, and didn’t appreciate having his young punkass partner almost blow him up several times. After apprehending known criminal slimeball, Rattletrap (and after meeting the hero Optimus Prime face to face, much to Cheetor’s delight), they received a tip from said slimeball about a team of stunticons who were a part of his black market dealings.
Figuring that it was worth looking into, Sideswipe and Cheetor left to investigate. They entered Kaon Town, and found themselves at the old Decepticon gladiator arena, which was, strangely enough, right next to Trypticon Prison where Megatron was being held. Cheetor instantly spotted some “Decepticons” and charged in guns blazing without thinking, only to be yelled at by Wildrider for interrupting his team’s rehearsal. One that was being watched by both Optimus Prime, and Sentinel Magnus, though Sideswipe couldn’t figure out why at first.
It became pretty obvious why after they realized the act included a giant holographic Sentinel Magnus head.
When that was over and done with, they investigated backstage, but were only able to find stage props and other useless doo-dahs there. Sentinel Magnus himself had them thrown out of the arena and told them to never search there without a warrant again. Well, now they were back to square one. Sideswipe did a search for the Stunticons on the Autobot database, but came up empty, instantly making him suspicious. He didn’t have time to think about it though, there was a break-in at Ironfist’s workshop. The place was usually filled with explosives and other dangerous things, so naturally Cheetor got into a firefight with their target. After chewing Cheetor out for being stupid and reckless, Sideswipe apprehended Toxitron (a Stunticon) and brought him to the station. It didn’t take long for them to figure out that Toxitron was a little fried in the processor, and they weren’t able to make the charges stick, so they had to let him go.
And now they were back to square one.
Sideswipe decided to take a closer look at the things that were stolen recently in relation to their current investigation. Good thing he did, because they turned out to be excavation and demolition equipment. It finally clicked: The Stunticons weren’t Autobots pretending to be Decepticons, they were Decepticons pretending to be Autobots pretending to be Decepticons! Not only that, they planned to break Megatron out from the prison!
It was opening night, so the two cops had to hurry and get there before the Decepticon plan was complete. Once there, they exposed the Decepticons, who were quick to drop the act to fight them. Cheetor and Sideswipe didn’t stand a chance, the Decepticons were bigger and had better weapons, and all the bystanders merely thought that this was part of the show.
Just when they thought things were going to end badly for them, Toxitron appeared out of nowhere, and “accidentally” saved them by toppling a structure on the attacking Decepticons. They really weren’t that lucky, turns out Toxitron was really Optimus Prime in disguise! Apparently Optimus was suspicious about the Stunticons also, and infiltrated their ranks to figure out their plan. Optimus exposed their plans on the giant hologram, alerting the whole stadium of the danger.
It wasn’t over yet though, Motor Master managed to get free from under the wreckage and took Sideswipe hostage, holding up a detonator and threatening to blow up the entire stadium if the prisoners from Trypticon weren’t released. Sideswipe happened to be holding Optimus’ axe at the time, and, perhaps without thinking, activated the rocket boosters to drive both himself and Motor Master backwards. He was able to swipe the detonator from Motor Master’s hand, and got clear. Cheetor didn’t appreciate this daredevil bullshit, and he ended up yelling at Sideswipe for such a wildly reckless move, and that they all could have died because of it.
Sideswipe replied by saying that nothing was getting between him and his retirement, and that was that.
The criminals were apprehended, and Sideswipe finally got his retirement, leaving Cheetor on the force with a slightly increased sense of responsibility.
