What’s changing across the Weixin ecosystem? Tencent’s Q2 2026 Financial Report highlights developments in user engagement, content and AI: 📈 Combined MAU of Weixin and WeChat reached 1.439 billion. 🎥 Video Accounts’ total time spent grew more than 20% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, benefiting from enriched content for younger users, upgraded interactive features and a new multi-variable content ranking system. 🤖 In recent weeks, we have begun a small-scale prototype test for Xiaowei, the agentic AI inside Weixin. Powered by a customised model, WeLM, Xiaowei is built for user privacy, Weixin-specific use cases and inference efficiency. AI-enabled features are also being introduced across Official Accounts, WeCom and Weixin Pay. Travelling in a new country often means using different apps for payments, transport, food and bookings. With Weixin Mini Program, many everyday travel services in China come together in one familiar place—from transport and dining to attraction bookings and city services. This convenience is seeing growing adoption. In Q2 2026, Mini Program usage among international visitors to China increased by 34% year-on-year, continuing its double-digit growth. Usage among visitors from Kazakhstan rose more than eightfold, while usage among Malaysian visitors increased by 40%, with Central and Southeast Asia showing particularly strong momentum. As Chinese tourism to Spain grows, unfamiliar payment options can create friction for travellers and make it harder for local businesses to serve them effectively. Through a new partnership with Getnet, Weixin Pay will become available on physical POS terminals across Spain. This will give Chinese mainland visitors a familiar way to pay while helping merchants connect with this growing market. Launched in Tencent Singapore, the fifth Mini Program Global Innovation Challenge Southeast Asia Regional Competition introduces its first AI Agent theme and a new university track. Using Tencent AI tools, including WorkBuddy and ima, students can develop Mini Programs that address practical needs. As zoe zhou shared, the challenge goes beyond coding. The Weixin Pay “AI AgentPay Card” can now be used for even more paid Agent services. It now supports #SkillPay, Tencent SkillHub’s platform where businesses can publish and monetize paid Agent Skills. How it works: 1️⃣ Install a Pay Skill via SkillHub CLI in WorkBuddy or QClaw. 2️⃣ Call the Skill in chat, approve the payment, and pay with your AI AgentPay Card balance. Your main Weixin Pay account stays separate. You control the card balance. Every payment requires your confirmation. From January to May 2026, payment value from inbound visitors using international bank cards through Weixin Pay increased by over 66% year on year. Today, Weixin Pay also supports payments through 40+ overseas wallets across 13 countries and regions, making it easier for travellers to use payment methods they already know.
