Ludlow castle

cmcmckOne of the many castles in the Welsh Marches and an impressive one!
Making our way in:
The castle ditch. This one was always a dry ditch, not a mote.
The main gate. It orignally had three portcullises:
And a double gate:
The outer walls:
This would have been the living quarters:
The fine dogtooth doorway of the chapel:
And the whole chapel- based as so many were, on Jerusalem:
More of the living space. This was a royal palace as well as a castle:
