THIS IS A MIRROR OF MY LIVEJOURNAL, CREATED AS A BACKUP IN CASE ANYTHING HAPPENS TO THE ORIGINAL. PLEASE LEAVE ANY COMMENTS AT LIVEJOURNAL. I DO NOT INTEND TO BECOME ACTIVE ON DREAMWIDTH UNLESS MY LIVEJOURNAL EVER DISAPPEARS.

Female living on the south coast of England. I mostly use this journal to ramble about my fandoms and nostalgia trips.

I've been a huge U2 fan since 1999, when the U2 Massive Heads were resident dancers on TFI Friday and got me interested in the real thing! ZooTV was my introduction to the band and remains my favourite era - Achtung Baby *is* the greatest album ever recorded, and I'm hopelessly devoted to Mr MacPhisto. The next best thing was the Vertigo era, which produced my second favourite album (How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb) and the greatest experience of my life, seeing both Twickenham gigs from the front row. I've been to twelve shows in total over the past six tours.

I own the following U2 communities which you're very welcome to join:
u2: the original and best U2 LJ community.
u2photos: a place to share pics of the band.
u2uk: bringing together UK-based fans.
mr_macphisto: dedicated to everyone's favourite rock star devil.

I've also created a MacPhisto mood theme. If you want to use it on your journal, follow the instructions here.

My other main fandom is Knightmare, the classic children's adventure gameshow from the '80s and '90s. I loved it as a kid and finally had the chance to watch it again in 2010 - it's even better than I remembered! Amazingly there's still an active fan community with lots of geeky fun to be had.

On a similar theme, I love anything to do with The Hobbit and The Lord Of The Rings. Adore the books, played the Spectrum games as a child, grew up watching Bakshi's animated film and was very impressed with Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy (less so with The Hobbit). Some of the audio adaptations are brilliant too.

Past obsessions include the TV programme Due South (1995 to 1999) and Formula 1 motor racing (1996 to 2006) - my favourite drivers were Jacques Villeneuve and Mika Hakkinen.

MUSIC
I enjoy a wide variety of rock, pop and dance music from the '60s to the '90s, with a sprinkling of artists from the 21st century (alas, most new music is unlistenable crap). Favourites include Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, The Alan Parsons Project, Delays, Keane, Alanis Morissette, Crowded House, David Bowie, Dire Straits, Billy Joel, The Waterboys and Duke Special.

TELEVISION
Current TV shows I watch: The Rings Of Power, Doctor Who, Pointless, The Hit List, Long Lost Family, A Question Of Sport, QI, The Last Leg, Have I Got News For You, wildlife/vet documentaries (I'm a big animal lover) and major sporting events (Olympics, Wimbledon, international football etc).

Some other TV shows I loved...
Drama: The Girl From Tomorrow, The Outer Limits, Robin Hood (until they ruined it), Merlin, The Musketeers, Life On Mars / Ashes To Ashes, The 10th Kingdom, Ally McBeal, Star Trek (mostly TNG and Enterprise)
Comedy: Mork & Mindy, Father Ted, 3rd Rock From The Sun, Red Dwarf, Maid Marian And Her Merry Men, The Fast Show, Fist Of Fun, Whose Line Is It Anyway, Harry Hill, Shooting Stars
Gameshows: Interceptor, The Crystal Maze

FILMS
Favourite movies include Quills (I'll watch anything with Geoffrey Rush in it), The Matrix, Watership Down, Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory, and the Star Trek films The Voyage Home and Generations.

BOOKS
My favourite author (apart from Tolkien) is Salman Rushdie, my favourite novel is Glen Duncan's I, Lucifer, and my favourite non-fiction book is U2 At The End Of The World by Bill Flanagan.

What else? I like going for scenic walks, I'm fascinated by dreams (both my own and other people's), I have strong opinions about biscuits, and my sense of humour is somewhat on the surreal side. Maybe it's because I grew up watching Timmy Mallett.

PLEASE NOTE: You're welcome to add me to your friends list, but I don't normally add new people to mine, for various historical reasons - I'll read your journal directly if we have stuff in common. Virtually everything I post nowadays is public, and if you want to read an older entry that was posted as "friends-only", feel free to ask me about it!

I think that's all - now go check out the best website EVAR. Hurrah!
