caitie: the best boy spinner's best spin position (figure skating | jason brown)

The United States is currently enjoying an embarrassment or riches in ice dance, which is by far our strongest discipline. The last world medal won by a US figure skater in any other discipline was won by Evan Lysacek in 2009. In the same amount of time, four US ice dance teams have won seven world medals. Half of the teams at this season's Grand Prix Final were from the United States. Next week, our top teams will go head to head in St. Paul for the national title and a chance to represent the US in front of a home crowd at Worlds in Boston this spring. Who will come out on top?

I may or may not do NaBloPoMo. It has pretty awful prompts that I will definitely ignore, but I miss what LJ used to be to me, and I'd like to get in the habit of posting more regularly again, either here or on Dreamwidth.

Anyway, I just found out about this like fifteen minutes ago via [personal profile] myfriendamy so for my first post, have a picture of the pumpkins I carved for Halloween: )

Also, good luck and good vibes to everyone on my f'list attempting the much more challenging NaNoWriMo!

Hey guys hey! I hope everyone had a great holiday!

Eventually I really want to talk about things like Breaking Bad, Parks & Rec, The Good Wife, Yuletide, The Marriage Plot, and how Werner Herzog is the funniest. But first I need to talk about Dreamwidth.

I'm going to use Dreamwidth as my ~homebase~ for the next month or so and crosspost to LiveJournal from there. I'm not committing myself to moving, but... I'm seriously considering it.

Reasons! )

Reservations! )

So yeah, I'm going to give it a whirl~ I guess. I'll report back! The biggest annoyance I've run up against so far is that I guess Dreamwidth disables table background colors on their entry pages and profiles? Bummer for people who used profile codes.

I'm here, thanks to Q! It feels like I should do something special (or at least not boring) for my first entry, but. It's late and maybe I will feel less stressed about dreamwidth if I just bite the bullet and get this over with. So!

I am totally psyched about being just plain old [personal profile] caitie. Not that I wouldn't love to come up with an interesting, creative, and/or mysterious username someday, but considering I have been Caitie everywhere to everyone for my entire online existence, that's probably not in the cards for me.

I stopped by BN tonight and grabbed Bloodhound. It eluded me at first (even though I must have been looking right at it), probably because I was looking for a cover more like the last one. I haven't cracked it yet, but here's hoping I have an easier time adjusting to the city-speak. And that Beka's overly convenient thief friends don't annoy me as much as they did last time.

But first I need to brush up on my fractions and proportions and Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally and all that other fun stuff so I can help my littlest sister study for the CRCT (our state's version of the No Child Left Behind test you've got to pass to progress to the next grade level) this weekend and hopefully earn herself a high enough score that she won't have to take an extra math class next year. Fractions by hand are the worst; I have been totally defeated by a couple of these problems, even though I swear I'm doing them right. Except not. *sigh*

Still running, although April got off to a bad start thanks to me straining the muscles in the fronts of my thighs, which was so not fun. And my shoes are becoming more of a problem the more intense my workouts get. Snipped because some people are squeamish about feet. )

I need a userpic! Or maybe I should just go without like I did my first few months on LJ.

About Me

This is a mostly fandom blog. Over the years I've been part of the Tamora Pierce, Harry Potter, Veronica Mars, and Gossip Girl fandoms and dabbled in many more. Currently I'm mostly into figure skating. I'm also an OTW volunteer. :)
