The future of design is stronger when more voices have a seat at the table. For the past five years, Bianca Williams, a Designer in our Retail sector, has volunteered with NOMA Detroit's Project Pipeline, a week-long camp that introduces students from underrepresented communities to careers in architecture and design. As Camp Director, Bianca is hands on in developing and delivering the program, which immerses students in the design process through real-world projects, site visits, and mentorship from industry professionals. For Bianca, the experience is deeply personal: “Project Pipeline is special to me because I get to teach, help students grow, and show them opportunities they may not have known existed. Organizations like NOMA opened those doors for me, and now I have the opportunity to do the same for others.” Bianca's dedication to mentorship, community engagement, and expanding access to the design industry reflects the spirit of #NORRForward: creating lasting social impact by investing in people and place. We're so proud of Bianca as she helps to inspire the next generation of designers. Four years ago, we set out to build a Carbon Reduction Plan to support our journey to net zero by reducing our corporate footprint. Since then, we've reduced Scope 1 emissions by 93% and Scope 2 by more than half. We've trained employees, built a dedicated sustainability team, and became a Positive Planet Silver-accredited organization. Most recently, we achieved Ready designation for Zero Carbon Certification™ for our new Toronto office. Our Sustainability Director, Blake Jackson, explains what it takes to move the line in an interview with Positive Planet: https://lnkd.in/eak69NG6 Positive Planet, Blake Jackson, AIA, LEED Fellow, WELL Faculty, CPHC, Cyle Sheppard, Tanmay Naik #CarbonReduction #SustainabilityLeadership #NetZero #CorporateSocialResponsibility #Architecture #InteriorDesign #Engineering #PositivePlanet #NORR

Award-winning brands don’t happen by accident. They take strategy, conviction, and a team willing to push ideas further. NORR has been recognized with a Marketing Communications Award of Excellence by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) in the Corporate Identity - Brand Refresh category for our 2025 Brand Refresh. SMPS represents marketing and business development professionals working in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. This recognition reflects the collective effort behind the refresh — led by our Marketing team and supported by brand ambassadors across the company — to bring a bold, scalable brand platform to life at the heart of a multi-year digital transformation. More than a new look, it created a digital-first foundation for global application and automation. The challenge was designing a brand system capable of scaling with evolving technologies and new client types. The solution combined purpose-driven design, structured content, and enterprise-wide alignment across Marketing, Business, Operations, Design Technology, and IT. The refresh modernized our visual identity, color system, typography, and narrative framework while introducing new Purpose, Vision, and Mission statements to align our teams across 13 market sectors and three regions: Canada, the US, and UK. With the next generation of NORR.COM coming this fall, we’re thinking bigger and acting bolder. Creative work deserves creative spaces. As organizations rethink what they need from the workplace, many are looking beyond square footage and amenities toward character-rich settings that spark ideas and strengthen connections. At Chicago's historic Reid Murdoch Building, home to our Chicago office, we collaborated with Friedman Properties to modernize the building's function and feel while preserving its industrial heritage. In a recent interview with Commercial Property Executive, Rachel Turner-Lauck, AAA, AIA, AIBC, OAA, IIDA, LEED AP, Vice President of Operations, shared her perspective on the project: “For NORR, the redesign reflects a deliberate shift in how and where work happens, aligning with corporate goals to reduce carbon emissions and increase workplace flexibility.” Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/gQTWcyfA #WorkplaceDesign #FutureOfWork #InteriorDesign #EmployeeExperience #Sustainability #NORR

The most important innovation in correctional design is the ability to respond to policy change without losing sight of long-term reform. In the July issue of Correctional News’ Planning and Construction edition, we spoke with Editorial Director Lindsey Coulter about the capacity pressures and rehabilitation goals influencing recent justice infrastructure investment. We explored how jurisdictions can expand capacity while maintaining commitments to wellness, rehabilitation, and community reintegration. Justice design extends beyond individual buildings to an interconnected system of police facilities, courthouses, and correctional institutions.
