Winston-Salem, North Carolina, made it official: #NationalUnderwearDay, Aug. 5, 2026, is now "Hanes Day." Last week, Gildan celebrated Hanes®’ enduring legacy in the Winston-Salem community, where the brand got its start, during a themed Winston-Salem Dash baseball game. Winston-Salem City Council Member Robert Clark, West Ward, joined the celebration and designated the day in honor of the brand’s 125th anniversary, along with Russ Hanes, a descendant of the P. H. Hanes family. With employees throwing the first pitch and singing the national anthem, the event honored the people behind the Hanes® brand. The evening also included in-game activations, a limited-edition T-shirt toss, a sock giveaway for the first 500 attendees, and postgame fireworks. More than 100 Gildan employees volunteered to support reforestation efforts in Honduras, putting teamwork and environmental responsibility into action. In partnership with the Cámara de Comercio e Industrias de Cortés in San Pedro Sula, volunteers transplanted, planted, and prepared thousands of plants at a local tree nursery. Gildan also donated essential supplies and tools for the nursery's ongoing work. Environmental stewardship requires collective action, and our people are putting that action into practice in the communities where we operate. In San Juan Opico, El Salvador, 40 employee volunteers planted 100 native trees at a protected natural area as part of a reforestation initiative in partnership with the Comité Ambiental Empresarial San Andrés - CAESA. Two years ago, we launched a strategic partnership with Quebec-based nonprofit Fillactive/FitSpirit, with a mission to promote health and physical activity among teenage girls in the Greater Montreal Area. Employees from our head office recently volunteered at the organization's spring celebration at Parc Maisonneuve in Montreal, welcoming more than 4,000 girls from local schools, supporting race logistics, helping at water stations, and assisting with event cleanup. Our investment has helped FitSpirit expand its reach, building an inspiring community of girls experiencing the physical, mental, social, and cognitive benefits of staying active. For more than a decade, our Biotop water treatment system in Honduras has used natural bacteria to treat wastewater and return restored water to the environment.
