Sentences. Buckets of this buckets of that and then buckets of this again. The trouble with words is that you can really talk yourself into a corner. Whereas you can’t fuck yourself into a corner.

The English Patient, Michael Ondaatje

A L I C E (girl, 24, New York) loves love stories, cups of coffee and medium rare steak (not necessarily together). She likes rainy mornings, brisk autumn days, and moleskin notebooks. She is currently on a creative non-fiction kick, but still dabbles in fiction/poetry from time to time. Her favorite type of prose is the kind that makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time. She has an unhealthy appetite for unhappy endings.

M E G A N (girl, 23, New York) loves to gnaw down on BBQ ribs and believes pie is the perfect food. She loves manners and witticisms and innuendo; she likes unreliable narrators and British period pieces. She looks for characters who: have sharp tongues and hurt feelings, say too much, say too little, say the opposite of what they mean, and longing - lots of longing. Happy endings are best, but bittersweet is nice too.
