    Needed an Animal Friend.

Set #30552 Ariel’s Underwater Symphony: After Rapunzel, Cinderella and Olaf it’s time for Ariel to receive her very own Polybag. And what an interesting choice for one as well, journey under the sea with Ariel and watch as she performs in a one-person orchestra… Considering there are no fishy friends to help play the instruments that seems to be the case here.

    Pros:

    • Ariel Mini-Doll is included in the cheapest set yet.

    • Models are fast and simple to build, ready for instant play.

    • Includes three One Rings for Ariel to discover hidden deep within a secret grotto/alcove… perhaps she will rule over all of Middle Earth with it. (Harmony for everyone.)

    • Printed musical note sheet and saxophone accessories included with this set.

    Cons:

    • Small portion of model easy to lose and I’m not quite sure what it is meant to represent, it uses a gold telescope piece with a clear blue stud and the instructions tell you to swap it out with the musical sheet holder for some reason which eludes me.

    • Does not include Flounder, Sebastian or any other animal allies to help her play the small piano, saxophone or conduct the orchestra with the baton.

    Overall opinion

While not a bad offering I have to admit this Polybag is a bit weaker in my mind compared to the other three Disney Princess based Polybags we’ve had in the past. While it is nice to see Ariel in such a cheap set with so many items for her to use/explore and play with, it’s a bit of a shame that none of the animal pieces were included aside from the clam shell element. It would have been nicer to see Sebastian in this set since he is the Royal Conductor after all.

Mildly recommended for parts and the Ariel Mini-Doll. Some nice flower accessories for Ariel’s hair are also included which includes doubles, I’m sure the target audience will appreciate it more.
