    The Great Green Dragon Mech!

Written by (AFOL , rhodium-rated reviewer) in Canada,

Set #30428 Green Ninja Mech Dragon: Lloyd’s mech is reduced in scale for this awesome little Polybag, which is in stores and currently offered for free in Canada at LEGO Shop @ Home. Is it a good purchase? Or a better freebie? Let’s find out.

    Pros:

    • Highly poseable model design with MIXLE ball joints used to great effect.

    • Build is fun and captures the look of the MECH in small scale.

    • Wonderful selection of rare parts for MOC fans.

    Cons:

    • No knee articulation for the legs which slightly detracts from the overall posing possibilities of this set.

    Overall opinion

Strongly recommend this set, get it for free while you can, the asking price is slightly high for my liking, however it works out quite nicely for what it is an if you want small representations of the main vehicles at a cheap cost these Polybags are great.

    Not bad at all

Written by (AFOL , bronze-rated reviewer) in Germany,

I am really looking forward to get the big mech dragon but I thought it would be cool to have a mini scaled version of it as well, just for fun. I ordered both at the same day but the small one arrived earlier so I'll have to review this one first.

What really makes this small dragon shine are the large number of ball connectors and the sand green parts. Had a lot of fun to create cool standing and flying poses with it.

There are a few minor things about this set that I didn't like:

    • you can not open his mouth, there is probably no room for that at this scale
    • the feet are a little weird but again, at this scale nothing really works any better
    • the eyes are blue instead of neon green
    • not enough gold, less spikes than the big mech dragon

And there are a two easy steps I'd like to recommend that improved the model a lot, at least for me:

    • exchange the dark blue 1x1 round tile used for the eyes with a neon green one to match the big dragon
    • move the thrusters one stud back, this way the forearms have more room for articulation

Also, you can transform it into a humanoid looking robot if you use it's tail pieces to give it longer legs. ;)
