Come for the Frog, Stay for the Swamp
There are two kinds of swamp biomes in Minecraft: the normal swamp and the newly added mangrove swamp that appeared in The Wild Update (1.19). There's a certain irony in that the largest and most expensive LEGO set for the Spring 2023 wave was for the deadly deep dark biome, but the cheapest and most accessible set was for the swamp biome. The question being ... which swamp biome, exactly?
As with my other reviews, the following elements from the game work well in the set:
- Frogs! Easily the highlight of the set, frogs are the fan-favorite feature of the Wild Update and the mold is absolutely delightful. The anti-stud below is similar to that of a Minecraft player head and makes the frog easy to move around the set.
- A single slime is included, most likely a third-generation one (smallest size). As they are common in swamps, it is a welcome addition.
- An Alex minifigure is included, but she is not very rare these days. Still, for those new to the Minecraft line, she may be a nice addition to the collection.
- The zombie is certainly the most hostile threat in the set, and as common as they are, adding another zombie to one's collection makes perfect sense.
- The mangrove tree is the first of its kind and it looks fantastic.
- The blue orchids are a telltale sign of a swamp biome and are easily recognizable here.
- A LEGO Minecraft set without a crafting table is just a really confused LEGO Creator set.
My only serious (a term I use very loosely here) complaint about the set is the TNT feature. Yes, it is fun, but as always, I have to wonder what sort of Survival player would place TNT in the context of this set. There's little to be gained by blowing up a swamp, but hey, the flicky-thingy is kinda fun.
Finally, to answer the question ... this set seems to be a combination of both swamp biomes. The mangrove tree is certainly a feature of a mangrove swamp, but the frog color, flowers, and the brown plates resembling dirt instead of mud are features of a regular swamp. So it would seem we have some biome-blending at play in this model, making it truly a swamp adventure in every sense of the word.
For about $10, I'd heartily recommend this set. It's fun, charming, and packed with details.

Beginning of the Frogs
These small minecraft sets are always fantastic.
We get a "new" frog, a slime cube, a zombie and alex. The build is cute and great for parts if you wanna build a mangrove biome. I bought a few of these for my MOCs and really think its a great set.
