Comparing Tudor Corner Set With Other Randomly Picked Modular Sets
Disclaimer: This set discussion is purely my opinion even though the set is given for free by TLG due to my status as LEGO Community Ambassador representing Indobrickville.
I am not doing a set review since Huw has already done a good job in reviewing this set. So, on this occasion, I will discuss the placement of LEGO 10350 Tudor Corner with some other randomly picked LEGO modular sets.
We will see how this set will look visually when placed next to other modular sets and how we can improve it. We will choose some modular sets randomly to test the placement. Please note that I will be using American floor numbering (street level is first floor while the level above is second floor).
When the set Tudor Corner is placed on the right (viewer side) of 10278 Police Station, we can see there is a gap in which the stairs leading to the second floor. This gap is still normal, but I feel bad for the tenant on the third floor that his/her balcony and windows will face the green wall of the Police Station or even stare straight at the Soap Suds advertisement.
When we place the LEGO Tudor Corner set on another side of the Police Station set, we can see that these two buildings seem nicely connected and that we can even think that the donut shop on the Police Station set is part of the Tudor Corner. The Haberdashery building style matches the donut shop very well. We prefer this setup.
When the Tudor Corner is placed on the left side of the LEGO set 10297 Boutique Hotel, we can see that the haberdashery is sitting nicely and even the ceiling level collinear with the El Cubo gallery. The cafe above the gallery is also on the same level as the second floor of the Haberdashery. Though the shape of the Boutique Hotel seems a bit strange in this placement.
For people that prefer symmetry, when the Boutique Hotel is placed to the left of the Tudor Corner, it seems to look better. But, of course, this is a matter of preference. We noticed that the tenant of the Tudor Corner on the third floor would still stare at the empty outer wall of the Boutique Hotel.
The placement of LEGO 10350 Tudor Corner on the right side of the LEGO 10251 Brick Bank looks quite alright. The Brick Bank has a Neoclassical style which, for us, seems to make these two buildings not in sync with each other. Could it be because of the style or colour? But again, this is only our personal opinion which can differ from the rest of AFOLs.
When the arrangement is like this instead, we find that the two buildings are more in sync. It might be because the building above the laundry matches in colour and style with the Tudor Corner building.
The Tudor Corner set and The LEGO 10218 Pet Shop look nice when placed next to each other like in the photo above. The Second Empire architecture style of the Pets Shop complements the Haberdashery building from the Tudor Corner set. We think this is one of the best placement combinations.
The placement of the Tudor Corner on the right side of the Pet Shop is also good. Both buildings seem to blend nicely. The colour combination looks pleasing to the eyes. But we still prefer the previous placement compared to this one.
When placed to each other like in the photo above, both the Tudor Corner and Grand Emporium do not have similar architecture style. Strangely, the cast-iron architecture of the Grand Emporium set does not really look out of place when placed next to the Tudor Corner set. We think it might be because the colour of both buildings complement each other.
When placed in this position, the buildings seem quite normal like what you usually see in big western cities all over the world that still maintain their retro-style buildings. We can say this building placement is acceptable.
The layout where the LEGO 10350 Tudor Corner is placed to the left of LEGO 10270 Bookshop can be found in Western Countries. The Tudor-style building matches with the cherry tangerine coloured Dutch-style building. This is quite a nice combination.
When we swap positions, we can see that the Victorian-style teal coloured residential building looks quite harmonious when placed next to the Tudor-style building. Surprisingly, the Victorian style architecture matches with the Tudor Revival architecture style (called Mock Tudor). And we know that both architectural eras started in the same century.
When the set LEGO 10255 Assembly Square is placed on the left side of the Tudor Corner set, we can see that somehow the placement of both sets seems quite in sync. The building styles match with each other and the colours also match. Only the brick sizes on the facade are different, but of course, variations create buildings that look more interesting.
When the LEGO Tudor Corner is placed on the right side of Assembly Square, the haberdashery shop from the Tudor Corner set and the bijoux café with music store above the set in Assembly Square look fine like a single building that we usually see in the commercial area in any cities (in western countries). We can say that the Assembly Square set is pretty versatile when coupled with the Tudor Corner set because it can be placed either on the left or right side of the Tudor Corner set.
So, based on our Tudor Corner placement with several randomly picked modular sets discussed above, we see that the Tudor Corner set does not really have problems with blending with the other LEGO modular sets. It could be that the designers of the set already did some research and made sure that every new modular set will not look out of place with the rest of the modular series buildings. We hope you enjoy this article. Thank you for reading this article!
Building Experience
I might be biased, but building modular sets is always enjoyable as long as you are not rushing and build them slowly to immerse yourself.
Parts
Plenty amount of parts.
Playability
You can put it on display, place it on your LEGO city diorama or play this set together with children.
Value For Money
I can't say much, since I got this set for free. But judging from the price shown, I think the price is reasonable (cost per part). But if you can be patient enough and get it at a discount, then it will be a great set to buy.
Special Note
Please note that I write this review based on my own LEGO Blog article which is available from: https://indobrickville.com/main/lego-10350-tudor-corner-placement-with-other-randomly-picked-modular-sets (bilingual in English and Indonesian)

After 42 years! The predecessor set (497) is as old as myself!
Disclaimer: This set review is purely my opinion even though the set is given for free by TLG due to my status as LEGO Ambassador.
Yeeha! This is an amazing set. I always love older theme sets such as Castle, Space and Pirates. Let me tell you the feature on this set!
First, the size of this set is way larger than its predecessor! Besides that, body and wing of the predecessor (set 497) is only 1 plate while this new one is very thick. Don't be fooled by the box. The box of this set is quite small, but the set that you will receive is very large compared to the set.
The second-best thing is that this set don't use stickers and there are many printed parts on it. Some printed parts are specially made for this set, notably, the identification number of the aircraft, the golden moon logo and the status screen of the aircraft.
There is also a droid (waiter droid?) that is not available on the predecessor set. The droid and the 4 space minifigures are shown below.
I wonder what is the function of the two long protrusions located at the front of the spaceship. Are those used for communication? Or are those actually laser cannons?
This spaceship is two tiered. The lower part is the cockpit and the higher part is for the recuperation area along with monitoring stations.
One of the cool feature of this set is that this spaceship have two beds with niches that can accommodate the oxygen tanks worn by the minifigures. The minifigures can sleep with their oxygen tanks attached! From the photo below you can see the minifigure is resting, and he is smiling happily that the oxygen tank does not hinder him sleeping flat on this special bed.
The other near feature is the three landing struts that look like what we see in science fiction spaceship. And the best thing is the landing struts can be folded and hidden when the spaceship take off and in flight mode.
On the bottom of the spaceship, there are three holes used to hide the landing struts. There are two circular components that might be used to lift off the spaceship or hover midair like Harrier Jet.
This spaceship is equipped with two main thrusters located on the tail fin and two secondary thrusters located on the wings. Then there are two auxiliary thrusters on both sides.
The tail fin with the main thrusters can be opened to reveal main cargo bay with rover on top of the pad. The pad can be lowered and extended, so the rover can roll out to explore the planet.
Behind the cargo bay is the airlock that connects the cargo bay with the recuperation area. There are also two tools located in the cargo bay area which is the hand radio and wrench.
On the right side of the spaceship, there is a small storage that stores two different colours of handheld signalling devices. Or is it laser blasters perhaps? It will depend on how you play with your imagination for this set.
On the left side of the spaceship, there is another small storage that stores a black tank. Is it a backup oxygen tank perhaps? These storages are located between the secondary thrusters and the auxiliary thrusters.
I find that there are two negative points for this set. The position of the control wheel (steering) for the minifigures are not placed in the centre of the minifigures like shown in the photo below.
The second negative point is that there are no continuity for the main thrusters which are located on the tail fin of the spaceship. When we open the tail fin, there are no extension of the main thrusters. So, where are the rest of the thruster components?
As not to make this new Galaxy Explorer lonely, I take out three of the vintage Space sets to accompany it and welcoming it to the family as the new big brother....or is it small brother?
Building Experience
I enjoy it so much. I might not be objective enough or biased since LEGO Space is one of my favourite theme. You will feel very satisfied seeing the final result. It is big!
Parts
The parts are plentiful to build this set.
Playability
You can put it on display, play it by itself, play with other sets such as Star Wars, play it with your children or play it with your vintage space sets!
Value For Money
I can't say much since I get this set for free. But judging from the price shown, I think the price is reasonable (cost per part). But if you can be patient enough and get it at discount, then it will be a bargain!

Finally a Bookshop to make our citizenbricks become more literate
This is my first review of modular LEGO® Creator Expert set. I will be reviewing LEGO® set 10270 - Bookshop. I hope this review will be informative to all the readers.
The front side of the building looks beautiful with their neo-classical style. There is a Birch tree with a blue bird and its nest located in front of the bookshop which complement this set nicely. Both buildings can be separated because they are built on top of 16 x 32 baseplates.
The bookshop building style reminds me of the townhouses in the Netherlands, while the blue residential building looks more like townhouse in London, UK. On the right side of the townhouses, there is a white lamp post.
Both buildings do not have any windows or feature on the sides along with having holes for the technic pins on left and right sides. Clearly, this set is aimed to be positioned in the middle of other modular sets.
There are a number of excellent details on this set. There is a Moby Brick book which is a wordplay on Moby Dick a novel by Herman Melville an American Novelist, there is a short bookshelf at the front of the store that will lose all the books if done here in Indonesia. Next, there is a small flower patch in front of the blue townhouses with its shingle roof that looks great.
At the rear side, both townhouses have a balcony each. The bookstore has a coffee table with two chairs, while the blue townhouse only have a balcony without furniture. Both townhouses have back door and the blue townhouse has a garden patch with pumpkin and other green vegetables.
The blue townhouse has a basement. There are not many things in the basement. There is only a mousetrap complete with cheese, a folding ladder that might be used to retrieve the aeroplane toy that stuck on the tree, a sack that is sitting on a bench and, lastly, there is a plant shear for trimming the flower patch or vegetable garden.
The second floor consist of a living room. There is a coat hanger with hat and umbrella hanging unto it. There is a table with tea sets and newspaper on top of it with two dining chairs nearby. A cupboard with jars sitting in the corner.
A fireplace stand ready with fire roaring to provide warmth to the weary tenant laying on the comfy sofa bed next to the windows. Above the sofa bed, there is a painting of seafaring wooden vessel. A small plant pot sitting next to the stairs.
On the level above (blue townhouse), beside the balcony, the interior is consists of a double bed, next to the bed is a nightstand with drawers complete with table lamp and flower pot. There is a painting of a bridge near the desk.
The ground floor of this book store consists of cashier and a bookcase. There is a stair going up to the first floor with a bookshelf in the middle of the stairs. It seems there is bookshop is lacking books to sell.
The first floor looks comfy. It is the living space of for the shopkeeper. There is a living room with a single black sofa, a rug, a grandfather clock, small coffee table with red mug and a standing light.
The second floor is the bed for the shopkeeper. There is a vivarium next to the bed with a chameleon inside which is the pet of the storekeeper. Despite that, the designed vivarium is not perfect because there is a hole behind and the chameleon can escape.
This set only provides 5 minifigures that consists of a grandfather, a grandmother, a male, a female and a child. Only the grandfather does not have dual expressions. The expressions on the grandmother looks nearly similar.
Building Experience
All Creator Expert Modular Building are very enjoyable and fun to build. We will always learn new building technique from it. I will say never speed build a modular building where you will miss all the fun. I used to speed build modular sets, but now I just take my time and complete it in several days.
Parts
There are generous parts given for this excellent set.
Playability
I really like this set. The style of the buildings are just different from the other modular buildings. And with all Creator Expert sets, the playability are just limitless. You or your children will enjoy just playing with this set or when it is incorporated into a city diorama. Even playing this with a couple of other modular building sets along with several City or Creator 3 in 1 sets will take a lot of your time. This is a MUST-HAVE set for modular building collector or any diorama builder!
Value For Money
The price is good since this theme is owned by the LEGO Group and does not need to pay royalties. Try to get it on sale or promo from retailers to make it even more worthwhile!

More Service Station!
Last year when I saw this product at the news launching, I instantly became interested to get it. Why? Because LEGO® City theme always release police or fire department theme regularly several times in a year. It is different with the petrol station theme that only released every few years (based on the track record). And the last set with the petrol station theme is released on 2016 which is set 60132 (Service Station) which coincidentally using the same set name. So I quickly bought the set without waiting for a discount like what I usually do.
This set has a smaller box size compared to set 60132. The amount of parts is also less (354 pcs vs 515 pcs). Seems this set is more focusing into a simple build. But this set provides 4 minifigures which is the same amount with set 60132! This set also provides two vehicles. Whereas, set like this usually only provides 3 minifigures and 1 vehicle at the maximum. This set consists of 4 minifigures, petrol station, small convenience store and charging station for electric cars.
We can notice straight away that this set is prioritising simplicity. The petrol station is small with modern concept. The pump stations are covered by glass canopy. And on the convenience store, there is a solar panel to help supply electricity to the store or assists the electrical car charging point. The interior of the store is simple (as usual) with cashier that sells hotdog and newspaper. There is a coffee machine that provides beverage for customer to quench their thirst.
The minifigures provided are a service station attendee and three customers: a posh lady with a sport car and two hippie youngsters that intent to travel to the beach with their van. The cars in this set are simple as normally the vehicle from CITY theme. But it is worth to mention that the van has an interesting sticker to reflect the personality of its owner. An interesting set indeed!
Building Experience
I am happy to build this set. Especially it is rare for LEGO to create Service/Petrol Station set.
Parts
Sufficient parts for this build.
Playability
Definitely a long play time especially on kid. My son will return to play again with this set after a while.
Value For Money
The price is quite good, especially, you get 4 minifigures and two vehicles!

Large House but not fully enclosed
Disclaimer: This set review is purely my opinion even though the set is given for free by TLG due to my status as LEGO Ambassador.
I will be doing a review of this set along with size comparison with the set from the 2023 Creator 3-in-1 set, which is set 31139 Cozy House. It is so unfortunate that this Modern House is not fully enclosed at the back like the City or Friends buildings. I am kind of disappointed with the way this set is not fully enclosed on 4 sides, like the majority of the houses from the Creator 3-in-1 line.
From the photo above, this Modern House, which is assembled from 939 LEGO parts has a Malibu-style house that we can find in an elite residential area near the beach. We can see from here that the LEGO designer is focusing on the rear side of the house that faces the beach or sea. We assume that because we can see that there is a small garden, sandy footpath that seems to go to the beach, since there are blue plates that indicate the water section. Thus, we think that this house is facing the sea.
From the photo above, we can see a lap pool. Near the pool, we can see a cocktail glass and also a box to store swimming flippers. Next to the pool in the small garden, we can see two fronds and two palm trees to show that this house is indeed on the beach.
On the right side, we can see two sun loungers with a fire bowl to warm the minifigures during cold weather. There is a huge sliding door that connects to the living room and one standard door that connects to the main hallway.
The rooftop is pretty bare. There is only one bird that seems to be a parrot by looking at the colour. This bird is made of LEGO parts, which is common on the Creator 3-in-1 set where every animal will be brick-built and not from moulded parts. Near the bird is equipment that resembles an AHU (Air Handling Unit) that is usually used for controlling and regulating air conditioning systems in buildings or large houses.
Next to the bird and located below, we can see a balcony with a decorative flower. One of the important things to mention is the balustrade is quite rigid since it is built from trans-brick 1 x 2 x 5.
The view of the other side of the LEGO 31153 Modern House set can be seen in the photo above. We can see that there are 4 main rooms and 2 hallway rooms. The main room is the study room, kitchen, the main bedroom and the family room. We will discuss these rooms one by one.
From the photo above, on the right side is a hallway that connects the study room in this photo with the main bedroom. The hallway also has a door that opens up to the balcony. In this photo on the left side you can see the study room, which has a high ceiling to give an impression of a spacious room. Inside this study room, there is a chandelier that is probably made of glass or crystal for a luxurious feel. And there is a plant pot in the corner of the room.
In another corner, there is a bookshelf with a statue (or trophy) and a camera on top of it. On the ground, there is a colourful carpet with a modern pattern. The main feature in this room for us is a modern-style lounger that faces huge glass, so the owner of this house can view the sea or beach while relaxing on this chair. The owner can also use this chair to read a book or take photos through the huge glass window.
Below the study room is the kitchen. Inside this room there are two chairs and a small round dining table. At the rear, we can see a kitchen countertop with two jars of seasoning or food ingredients. Next to it, we can see two stoves with pans on top. There is an exhaust vent to divert the smoke from cooking to the outside. Beneath the stoves, there is an oven that, unfortunately, can't be opened.
On the right side of the kitchen, there is a hallway connecting to the living room with a door opening up to the beach and pool.
From here we can see the living room. There is a red electric guitar standing on the left side. In the middle of the room there is a white bowl and flower decoration on top of a glass table. On the right side there is a yellow sofa with a small coffee table with a glass cup filled with either whisky (if you are an adult) or apple juice (if you are still underage). Across the room, there is a sliding door that leads to the pool.
The last room is the master bedroom with a bathroom next to it. The bedroom is quite simple with a red bed for two people with orange pillows on top of it. In the left corner of the room there is an ornamental plant and in the right corner of the room there is a small safe or perhaps a home automation system. For the bathroom, we will show photos from another perspective.
The bedroom and bathroom are not separated by anything in the form of walls or glass. For us, this is unrealistic because it can cause water, air or humidity from the bathroom to enter the bedroom. We can see a yellow rubber duck placed on the room divider.
This bathroom does not have a door. The entrance is covered with tiles. Further into the bathroom, the floor is decorated with stones to give a different impression than bathrooms in general. At the top we can see a shower head for bathing.
The two minifigures in this set are adults and have dual expressions that can be adjusted to suit your minifigure needs. The torso on this minifigure has a pattern printed on the front and back sides. Meanwhile, the legs have no pattern at all.
We can see that the size of the house from set LEGO 31153 Modern House set is much larger than the LEGO 31139 Cozy House, even though both houses are from the Creator 3-in-1 line. It is true that the LEGO 31153 set has 131 more pieces, but the size difference is quite significant compared to the 31139 set, which is a modular house closed on 4 sides.
We opened the hinges of set 31139 so it could look bigger. However, when compared with set 31153, set 31139 still looks smaller. In other words, LEGO designers were quite successful in creating the impression of a magnificent house from the LEGO 31153 Modern House set.
We think the LEGO designer wouldn't want to make this house enclosed because it could increase the number of LEGO components quite significantly. Increasing the components would push the price of this set too high for both children and adults to afford.
Look how happy these two children are playing with the sets.
Building Experience
I am always happy when assembling buildings in LEGO. I did not give it a perfect 5 because this building is not fully enclosed.
Parts
A lot of parts on this set!!
Playability
I like house sets very much because I have a LEGO City diorama in my home. And the children also enjoy playing with them.
Value For Money
I can't say much since I got this set for free. But comparing the price per piece, it is quite high when compared to the previous year, 31139 Cozy House. It could be priced lower.
