    Neat Little Set

Written by (AFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in United States,

Not much to say about this TBH. The shape and color scheme of the locomotive are vaguely reminiscent of https://brickset.com/sets/10194-1 The Emerald Night. And there are a few clever parts usages, like the cattlecatcher made from flags and the flowers being used for a Christmas tree.

Overall, it's a very cute model! Great for either displaying with other winter-y LEGO items, or for just playing around and recreating the ice drift scene from The Polar Express. I'd reccomend picking this up if you can!

    Very cutesy, very demure

Written by (AFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in United States,

Uh... I don't really have much to say about this little guy. He comes with two brand-new pieces: a dark green hood with dual-molded tan rubber antlers, and a double-sided dark green and reddish-brown cape. For accessories, he has a druid's staff with leaves and a flower on top and a small bird - either a sparrow or a quail; I'm not quite sure.

Like most of the other DnD CMF figures, the druid comes with a male and female head. The male head has bushy eyebrows, sideburns, and a cleft chin, as well as two expressions: a cheerful grin and a determined smirk. The female head is very similar to https://brickset.com/parts/6356859/mini-head-no-3531, with two expressions of her own: a winking smile and an angry scowl.

Overall, a very nice figure! Maybe not the most outstanding of the series, but still one of my favorites!

FOR CHIM- wait, wrong anthro eagle

Written by (AFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in United States,

Huge thanks to Bricks & Minifigs Hamilton for getting me this on day one!

I know absolutely nothing about Dungeons & Dragons, but birdfolk are nevertheless one of my favorite fantasy races. Why do you think I like the Eagle Tribe from Chima so much? When images of this Aarakocra first leaked, I was super excited to get some! And I just happened to pop into my local Bricks & Minifigs on the day this series dropped and went home in possession of a pre-owned 75300 Imperial Tie Fighter and this figure, complete with accessories!

Anyway, onto the actual fig. The Aarakocra has brand-new head and wing molds that look fantastic! I'm especially happy about the wings, specifically because they work well for Chima eagles. I was always disappointed that the armor piece required to attach their wings covered up most of the torso printing, so this new element effortlessly fixes that issue! And hopefully it comes in more colors in the future!

The figure has lots of great printing all around, with a dark orange vest that includes lots of straps and equipment. The legs are the faun legs that are becoming more and more prevalent on minifigures today. Unfortunately, they have some huge issues with posing. Move the legs forward, and they stop about halfway where they would on normal minifig legs. Move the legs back, and they display some incredibly ugly gaps on top of the legs. Nevertheless, if you just keep the figure static on display, it should be fine.

Also, it's worth noting that the outfit has almost the exact same color scheme as the Sky Pirates from Ninjago. So you could easily reuse the torsos for that!

The figure comes with two accessories: a dark tan bow, which is actually a new recolor of the one from Marvel Series 2, and an adorable little wolf pup as a companion!

This may be one of the best figures of this DND series! Absolutely recommend! I hope to find a few more to use in my Chima Eagle Tribe army, probably as some kind of elite guard squad.

Captain Rex!!! ...the Y-Wing is nice too.

Written by (TFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in United States,

I don't care what MandR says: I am so excited that Captain Rex is now in a cheaper set!

My opinion on the whole controversy is this: LEGO forgot how popular Rex actually is. Labeling him as an exclusive minifigure in a $650 set was a HUGE mistake, because frankly, LEGO should've known better than to think that scalpers wouldn't sell the fig for exorbitant prices on the aftermarket.

I do think that the Rex from the UCS Venator should've had a Kama though. Personally, I'm fine with the printed Kamas because of the better play opportunities (it was especially necessary in this set, otherwise it would be physically IMPOSSIBLE for Rex to sit down), but a UCS set doesn't have the same excuse that a playset like this does. If it's just standing on a display plaque, I doubt anyone will be playing with it. Plus, a fabric waistcape would've left something exclusive to the Venator Rex.

But, as they say, no amount of regret (or missed opportunities on LEGO's part) can change the past.

Either way, the Captain Rex minifigure is amazing! There's some awesome printing all the way around, and he comes with two great pistols! I really only have three complaints:

1: The pauldron is too big, especially since LEGO does manufacture smaller pauldrons.

2: The rangefinder sits too high on the helmet. It's still my only problem with the helmet holes - otherwise they don't bother me in the slightest. But I still think LEGO should figure out a helmet mold that keeps both sunvisors and rangefinders in non-awkward spots.

3: I do wish Captain Rex had a printed beard. I know the blond stubble is very subtle in the show, but in that case using yellow printing would've actually worked perfectly for the effect. And the inhibitor chip bandage is likewise kinda disappointing too, because it's only accurate to post-Order 66 Rex.

Anyways, the Y-Wing is pretty cool. I'm not sure many people actually care about it, but I kinda like the design. It's got that cute, chii Microfighter look that's become so popular, and I especially love how they achieved the curves on the side of the cockpit. There are two of the newer stud shooters underneath, but they're fairly inconspicuous and add some nice play value. The engines at the back look great too, but I have a couple of nitpicks. Firstly, I don't understand why the bubble turret is a white 1x1 half-round tile instead of a transparent 1x1 round tile or 1x1 round plate. Second, there's not anywhere to put Rex's pistols. Fortunately these are very easy things to fix, and I've already done them to my Microfighter.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this! Yes, $13 is an unusually high price for a Microfighter set, but the Captain Rex figure is more than enough to make up for that! Might be wise to invest in a CloneArmyCustoms pauldron though.

    These definitely don't succ!

Written by (TFOL , silver-rated reviewer) in United States,

I can't believe I finally got this set for Christmas! All the plants look amazing. This is actually my first 18+ set, even though I'm 17 (I AM ABOVE THE LAW!!!).

    Pros:

    • Models look amazing on display (as all 18+ sets should)
    • Lots of clever parts usage and building techniques - namely the machine guns, forestmen hats, and eggs!
    • A nicely hidden storage spot for extra axles under one of the plants

    Cons:

    • Some of the models spread out, so it can be hard to connect the bigger ones together
    • I wish that the pieces used for the potting mix were more dusty instead of green, since succulents are usually potted in rocks or sand

Overall, an awesome set! Would absolutely reccomend if you love exotic-looking plants!
