🏥 If you’re familiar with the TV show The Pitt you’ll know it provides a very realistic, hour-by-hour study of a single day at a Pittsburgh emergency room. In season two, as a new chief attending physician comes onto the scene, so does artificial intelligence. The new physician has bold ideas about introducing new technologies onto the ward. But 3D printing doesn’t get a mention. A recent visit to Materialise's annual healthcare forum in Leuven suggests that's an oversight. We sat down with Scott Hollister (Georgia Institute of Technology), Fleur de Geer (Verwelius 3D Lab) and Materialise CEO Brigitte de Vet-Veithen to discuss how they’re actively applying 3D planning and printing technologies today, and what it actually takes to successfully integrate a new technology into a healthcare environment. "It's very important that you start from a clinical perspective. What's the clinical problem that you're going to solve? Because otherwise, you're solving a problem that doesn't exist." Read the full conversation on the TCT Magazine website >> https://lnkd.in/egTS5yQ9 This article was first published in TCT Magazine via our regular healthcare feature. 🔜 In the next issue of the magazine, we explore how LightForce Orthodontics has leveraged 3D printing technology to manufacture 18 million unique parts, and why, as the company launches its LightBracket Metal product, this achievement is only the beginning. “We have, from the very beginning, had an eye towards ‘This is not something we’re going to do a few times. We’re going to need to build the capability, the infrastructure, the automation, the systems that allow us to do it repeatedly, millions and millions of times.’” Subscribe to TCT Magazine >> https://lnkd.in/eRMeMASd #3DPrinting #AdditiveMfg #Engineering #Healthcare #Medical

  • How can additive manufacturing change people’s lives, and are we underestimating its potential? These are just a few of the questions our CEO, Brigitte de Vet-Veithen, answered in engineering.com’s weekly short-form podcast: 33DPQ. Our sustainability journey continues to make new strides with the commissioning of a €1.56 million solar park at our HQ in Leuven, Belgium. Fully operational as of January 2026, the installation will help: 1️⃣ Increase the share of renewable electricity in our operations 2️⃣ Support our ambition of reducing our environmental footprint 3️⃣ Reduce our dependency on external energy sources The solar panel park has 3,200 panels, and we estimate it will produce 1,700 MWh of renewable electricity annually. What does this all mean? We expect it to generate electricity that’s equivalent to what 600 families in Flanders would use for a whole year; thereby reducing our upstream CO₂e emissions by more than 40 tonnes each year! Argona were key in the design and construction of the solar park. A big thank you to them and Induzz3 for their valuable contributions and support in bringing this project to life. By working together with trusted partners, we can continue accelerating our progress towards more sustainable operations. #SolarPark #MakeADifference #RenewableElectricity

  • We’re proud to share that our sustainability report is now fully integrated into our annual report — an important step in embedding sustainability more deeply into how we report and manage our business. Our sustainability disclosures also underwent limited assurance as part of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) framework, helping strengthen transparency and accountability. What milestones did we reach in 2025? Here are a few highlights from this year’s report: • We nearly halved our emissions intensity, reducing emissions per million euro revenue from 122 tCO₂e in 2019 to 62 tCO₂e in 2025 • We continued to invest in our people and workplace • We further strengthened the governance and reporting processes behind our sustainability approach, in line with CSRD requirements You can read more in Section 7 of our annual report: https://mtls.am/3RYEuzl We’re delighted with this progress and thank our partners and suppliers for all we’ve achieved together in 2025. Although our work is ongoing, this marks an important step forward in making our reporting more integrated, transparent, and decision-useful.

We believe that personalization plays a crucial role in improving clinical outcomes and that hip preservation is becoming an essential part of orthopaedic care. That’s why we’ve invested in Replasia, a Belgian medtech start-up advancing personalized, 3D-printed solutions and anatomical analysis software for hip preservation. Together, we aim to advance more personalized, less invasive orthopaedic treatments that help patients maintain their natural anatomy and quality of life for as long as possible. See what to expect from this collaboration here: https://mtls.am/4edCcoG #Orthopaedics #HipPreservation #PersonalizedCare #3DPrinting #Medtech

  • “If you told us back then that we’d be printing parts for Airbus, people would have declared you crazy.” 3D printing in aerospace has come a long way in the last 35 years, and we’re proud of the part we’ve played. We’re even prouder of the changes that are still to come and our role in driving the industry forward through additive manufacturing. A future of flying built on sustainability and comfort. Here’s to those who always believed, and those who are about to start. #Aerospace #TheFirstChoiceForAMInAerospace #AdditiveManufacturing

  • Can AI replace additive manufacturing expertise? In a recent conversation with Digital Engineering 24/7, our CTO Bart Van Der Schueren put it quite simply: “You need a user with domain knowledge to ask the right questions to get meaningful feedback.” According to him, the developments around natural language input are impressive. It can make complex processes more accessible and change how we interact with software. But it doesn’t replace expertise. "In many cases, you will still need to dive into the code and change some lines," he explained. "Your engineering skills are still very important, but LLMs will take on a role of growing importance.“ Read the full article here: https://mtls.am/4v13Lah #ArtificialIntelligence #AdditiveManufacturing #DfAM #DigitalManufacturing

Two days in Leuven reinforced a shift many hospitals are already feeling: 3D planning and printing is moving from a “promising technology” to an increasingly embedded part of care pathways. Five takeaways from the 3D Planning and Printing in Hospitals Forum 2026: • Soft tissue virtual planning is entering the mainstream (hepatobiliary, partial nephrectomy, oncology) • The community keeps expanding — new sites joining and experienced teams sharing what works • Reimbursement has moved from “does it add value?” to “how do we get it funded?” • AI, scripting, and automation are reshaping efficiency as case volumes grow • Innovation remains strong even as adoption matures (real cases + clinician-led workshops) If you’re building or scaling point-of-care 3D services, keep an eye on the 2027 edition.
