Welcome to this year's Halloween Trick or Treat Prompt Challenge! PLEASE READ HOW TO PLAY BEFORE LOOKING BEHIND THE CUT OR SCROLLING DOWN

How To Play:

Behind the cut is a list of 10 'Trick' prompts and 10 'Treat' prompts. These are mostly simple one or two word prompts. Tricks are darker (eg Blood, Graveyard) and Treats are lighter (eg Apples, Warm Scarf). You can interpret them however you like.

There are lots of ways to select prompts! You can:
- Choose a Trick or Treat, and pick a number from 1 to 10, BEFORE you look at the prompts and then ta-da, that’s your surprise prompt.
- Look at the prompts and then choose one that you'd like to create for or feel inspired by.
- Choose multiple prompts before or after you look at them.
- Or any other way you can think of playing that ends up with you having at least one prompt from the list below. (Ask a friend to pick for you. Roll a dice. Have fun with it!)
- Inspired by a comm discord chat, if you’d like a challenge, you could also ‘reverse’ the prompts and write darker fills for Treats and fluff for Tricks.

Once you have your prompt(s), your challenge is to create a fill. This can be fanfic, art, moodboards, fanvids, podfic... absolutely anything you like.

Then post your fill, in a comment to this post or wherever you like posting. Please comment to this post with: a title, author name, rating, any warnings or 'choose not to warn', and a LINK to your fill or your complete fill. (Similar to promptathon, this is so people know what they're clicking on and so we can create a masterlist at the end!)

You can post your fills any time from now until 18:00 GMT Friday 31 October. (The aim is to post the masterlist on Halloween or that weekend.) If you've not filled your prompt by then, Halloween has gone, whoosh, don't worry about it because Secret Santa is around the corner...

- The rules of the Comm apply. As a reminder, this includes providing a rating and either 'no warnings apply' / 'choose not to warn' / provide warnings (ie as on AO3) so no one gets an unwanted scare.

Hello to everyone who's signed up to Secret Santa this year! (Also a shout out to the people who have volunteered so far to pinch hit if needed, thank you <3 )

The next step is to make your choices, which we'll use to help match people up.

Below is an anonymised list of what the 18 people (!!!) who have signed up have said that they would like to receive as a gift in this year’s Secret Santa exchange (taken from the Details/Description section of the AO3 sign ups). Each bold number section (ie ONE) is one person/request, containing a number of prompts and possibly a 'yes please' and 'no thank you' note.

Your mission is to select the top four people/requests that you would like to write for. You do not have to write for everything in a request, but you should pick four that contain ideas that interest you.

Everyone taking part in this exchange is asked to please reply to this post by 16:00 GMT Sunday 19 October with the following in a comment:

1) Your AO3 user name/handle
2) Your FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, and FOURTH choices for which requests (from the list of eighteen below) that you'd ideally like to write for.

Hi All and welcome to Secret Santa 2025!

This is a Clint Barton and/or Natasha Romanoff end of year fic exchange where matching is based on prompts and everything is anonymous until the author reveals at the end. You don't need to be a member of the be_compromised community to take part, however almost all of the exchange will be taking place on AO3, so you will need an AO3 account; if you don't have one and would like an invite code please contact a mod. Prompt Choices is the one element that will be done on dreamwidth.

While this is labelled a 'Secret Santa' as it takes place in the run up to Christmas, fics do NOT have to be related to Christmas, New Year, winter etc. We welcome celebrations of other holidays and no theme at all. However we understand if you would rather not take part due to the labelling. We wish you all a happy holiday season <3

TIMELINE:

SIGN UP: from now until 16:00 GMT Monday 13 October

CHOICES POST: will then go up as soon as possible on dreamwidth and be available until 16:00 GMT Sunday 19 October

ASSIGNMENTS SENT OUT: we aim to have these to you within the following few days. (If all participants make their choices earlier, then we'll aim to get assignments out earlier!)

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: 16:00 GMT Monday 8 December (This is to allow time for pinch hits if/where needed.)

GIFT POSTING/REVEALS: Dependent on if participants submit on time / any pinch hit requirements, we aim to reveal gifts the week starting 15 December.

AUTHOR REVEALS: We aim to reveal authors between then and before 25 December, allowing for some time to read gifts while the authors are anonymous.

HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE EXCHANGE:

Full information on how to take part is on AO3, which includes providing at least 4 and no more than 6 prompts. These prompts, and any additional notes from the ‘Details/Description’ section will be anonymised and posted to the community dreamwidth in a choices post.

You MUST reply in a comment to that Choices Post with your top three picks of which requests you’d like to create for. You don't need a dreamwidth account to do this; you can comment using OpenID or anonymously, however please remember to include your AO3 handle in your comment so we know who you are! (More information will be available in the Choices Post.) This will be available as soon as possible following the closing of sign ups until 16:00 GMT Sunday 19 October. (If all participants comment earlier we will try to get matching and assignments out faster.)

We then use your choices to manually match participants in the exchange. We can’t guarantee that you’ll get your choices but we do try our best!

Assignments will be sent out via AO3 and you'll have until the deadline of 16:00 GMT Monday 8 December to submit your gifts.

We will then reveal gifts in the week leading up to Christmas (aiming for the week starting 15 December exact dates to be confirmed depending on any pinch hit requirements) and authors will be revealed between then and 25 December.

RULES:

1) We're a community for fans of Clint Barton aka Hawkeye and Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow, individually as well as paired together as friends, partners, lovers, spouses, or any combination. Hi All, our Comm Annibirthday is coming up - the be_compromised livejournal was created 6th May (first post 7th May) 2012. We’ve reached teenage status (13)!

In the spirit of gift giving and spreading some fandom joy, appreciation, and encouragement: let’s gift some comments. Taking place from now until the end of May see how many squares you can cross off on the bingo card below. Share in the comments, on tumblr, on discord, or wherever you like. Let us know if you score a row (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) or a full house. Comments can be on anything, not just Clint/Natasha works (apart from the clintasha specific square). As part of the small/short challenges throughout the year request on the comm discord and as suggested on the WIP Challenge discord chat, welcome to a mini challenge of 3 sentence fics / drabbles!

How to play:

1) Leave a (short) prompt in a comment. You can leave as many prompts as you like, but please put each prompt in a seperate comment. The more prompts the better.

2) To fill prompts, reply to the prompt comment with either a three sentence fic OR a drabble (100 words). Grammar can be suspect, but fills must be exactly THREE sentences long OR 100 WORDS long ONLY! You can reply to as many prompts as you like and prompts can have multiple fills. You can even reply to your own prompts. Or reply to other people's fills. The more writing the better.

3) Some guidance: fills should be Marvel themed, but can include any characters or relationships. Fills must be 3 sentences or 100 words because that's the challenge, but otherwise this is a low-pressure, laid back event. You can leave prompts without posting fills, you can post fills without leaving prompts, and you can absolutely comment and squee all over the place. There's no deadline, except that eventually we'll run out of steam. You don't need a DW account to play, but if not you might want to include a name in your comment so people know who to direct appreciation at.

BONUS/ALTERNATIVE: WIP Challenge

For those taking part in the WIP Challenge also or instead of filling prompts there will be a thread where you can comment with three sentences or 100 words from your WIP, or as a warm up for your WIP (e.g. something to help you learn more about a character, a moment from another point of view, something from the past that isn't actually in the fic...)

For those wondering what 'ATTF' means in the title - ATTF stands for 'All The Things Friday'. These are posts that traditionally go up on a Friday and last at least the weekend. They're a focal point for some community engagement, which can range from a writing/creating challenge, to recs, discussion, or anything else fandom related. Each ATTF has some general rules (updated slightly from past events):

Things to remember:
1) As available in more detail in the general community rules, all fic / fanworks must have a rating and warnings OR 'no rating' and 'choose not to warn'.
2) If a comment contains a very long fic or is graphics/images heavy consider posting behind a cut, or posting the full thing elsewhere with a summary and link in the comment instead.
3) Keep this a positive space and have fun!

The WIP Challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to FINISH a work-in-progress (WIP) by midnight (whatever your timezone) Sunday 15 June 2025.

HOW TO PLAY

Comment to this dreamwidth post before the deadline with:

> Title
> Author/Your online handle(s)
> Rating (ie. film ratings or AO3 style ratings)
> Any warnings OR you can say ‘choose not to warn’ (think about the AO3 warnings or take a look at our comm guidance if you’re stuck)

WHAT COUNTS AS A WIPs FOR THIS CHALLENGE?

Your WIP can be writing, art, video, a craft project, or anything at all. You might have already started posting/sharing your WIP or not. There's no length or difficulty requirement or any criteria for your WIP or what 'finished' looks like to you. If you don't have a work-in-progress but would like to play, you could pick an idea/project that you've been meaning to start but just haven't gotten around to. This is entirely on the honour system and we won't be checking. The aim is just to get that joy of completing something. This is a no-pressure, fun event.

Since we're a community for fans of Clint Barton and/or Natasha Romanoff, it's likely that these characters or this pairing will feature in a lot of our community's WIPs and I think the majority of our WIPs will be fanfic, but everyone and everything is welcome.

1) Our community rules apply to this event and everyone taking part in it. You do not need to be a member of our community or have a dreamwidth account (or any other specific account) to be involved.

February has arrived and that means it's time for our annual mini promptathon!

What is this? It’s like the big summer promptathon, only a shorter version. It's a fun, no-pressure event where you can post zero to as many prompts as you like, zero to as many fills as you like, and join in the squee or just quietly enjoy the fun.

This year we're returning to one of our classic promptathon themes of love and joy. You can use any interpretation of these themes in your prompts and/or fills if you like - romantic, valentines, platonic, friendship, supporting each other, celebrations - but the point is that this is a little celebration of fandom love and joy itself.

Now: we're open for prompts
Sunday 9 February: you can start leaving fills (and continuing prompting)
Midnight (whatever your timezone) Friday 28 February: February is over and so is mini promptathon

How To Play

1. Leave your prompt in a comment to this post. Please post each prompt in its own seperate comment. Prompts can be anything. You can re-use prompts from past events if you like, whether they were filled or not. You can leave as many prompts as you like. (Yes, seriously.)

2. You can post fills for prompts at any time from Sunday 9 February by replying in a comment to the prompt. The subject line of your comment should be: FILL: title, rating.

At the start of your comment please include:

> Your online handle(s) (if you don't have a dreamwidth account)
> Rating (ie film ratings or AO3 style ratings)

There’s no length requirement on fanworks submitted and you can create any type of fanwork. You can fill as many prompts as you want, and prompts can be filled multiple times by whoever wants to fill them. If you don't manage to finish your fill during the event, please do still share, it just won't be counted in the masterlist.

3. Sharing the joy! If you post your fill on tumblr, tag the comm and we'll reblog. If you’re posting on AO3, we have a ‘Community: be_compromised’ tag. And we'll post a masterlist of all fills on dreamwidth and tumblr after the event.

Welcome to this year's Halloween Trick or Treat Prompt Challenge! PLEASE READ HOW TO PLAY BEFORE LOOKING BEHIND THE CUT OR SCROLLING DOWN

How To Play:

Behind the cut is a list of 10 'Trick' prompts and 10 'Treat' prompts. These are mostly simple one or two word prompts. Tricks are darker (eg Blood, Graveyard) and Treats are lighter (eg Harvest, Cosy) but you can interpret them however you like.

You can:
- Choose a Trick or Treat and pick a number from 1 to 10 BEFORE you look at the prompts for a suprise prompt.
- Look at the prompts and then choose one that you'd like to create for or feel inspired by.
- Choose multiple prompts before or after you look at them.
- Or any other way you can think of playing that ends up with you having at least one prompt from the list below. (Ask a friend to pick for you. Roll a dice. Have fun with it!)

Once you have your prompt(s), your challenge is to create a fill. This can be fanfic, art, moodboards, fanvids, podfic... absolutely anything you like.

You can post your fill in a comment to this post or absolutely anywhere you like. Please comment to this post with at least: a title, author name, rating, any warnings or 'choose not to warn', and a LINK to your fill or your complete fill. (This is so people know what they're clicking on and so we can create a masterlist at the end!)

( Halloween Trick or Treat Prompts Behind The Cut )

Hi All, just to note that all Secret Santa Assignments have now gone out to participants via AO3.

If you haven't received your Assignment, first please check your spam folders and filters for messages from AO3, then please check your AO3 account dashboard - it will be in 'Assignments' in the menu on the lefthand side. If you're still having problems please let me know ASAP!

Almost everyone taking part has been matched to an assignment from their Choices made on the SS Choices Post. As a reminder, the ask in this exchange is to use one (or more) of the prompts requested by the person you have been assigned as inspiration for writing them a gift fic, and to avoid their 'No Thank You's. You don't have to use any of the additional information that they may have provided, but it's there in case it helps. Similiar, you can play with more than one of their prompts if you like. Have fun!

Please submit your completed gift to AO3 by 16:00 GMT Monday 9 December. You can do this by going to your assignments on your AO3 account, selecting 'fulfil', and then posting your fic as normal. Submitted fics will be moderated and remain hidden and anonymous until fic reveals, at which point the authors will still remain anonymous until author reveals at the end.

If you have any issues throughout the exchange please contact a mod - inkvoices, CloudAltas/franztastisch, or gsparkle. If at any point during this exchange you feel you won’t be able to submit your gift by the deadline please let us know straight away. We don’t yell, we just want to make sure that everyone who participates gets a gift and that everyone taking part in all ways has as few worries as possible. We may be able to offer you an extentsion, or you can default and we can organise a pinch hitter. If you don't contact us by the submission deadline we'll assume that you've defaulted, but the earlier you speak to us the better!

A reminder that you can feel free to let people know that you're taking part in Secret Santa, but keep your assignment (with the exception of any beta readers) and your own sign up details anonymous please until reveals at the end.
