Leaving my previous company and joining a new one was not on my "to do list", it was something I needed to do, to pivot after my position was made redundant. One mishandled bag can cost more than 30 seats' worth of profit, five can wipe out an entire flight's margin. The real problem isn't the bag itself; it's the gap between when someone knows something's wrong and when everyone who needs to act actually does. SITA's baggage portfolio closes that gap: 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗿® 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 cut 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀' re-transfer time from 3 minutes to 1 second, 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗿®'𝘀 integration with smart location tracking has cut permanent bag loss by 90%, and 𝗕𝗮𝗴 𝗝𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 gives airlines, airports, and ground handlers one shared version of the truth instead of three conflicting ones. Lisa Bounds reacted on thisLisa Bounds reacted on thisMonday, I took my 10-year-old son out boating - fresh off a weekend battle with food poisoning. Not my finest scheduling decision. But it was Veeam Me Day, one of our quarterly company-wide days off. I've loved sailing since I can remember (Christopher Cross's "Sailing" is still my all-time favorite song, yes I'm proudly stuck in the 80s music era), so any excuse to get my son on the water is a good day for me. Doesn't have to be a sailboat. The ocean doesn't check your paperwork. Nothing tests your composure like smiling for photos while your inner ear and your stomach are in open disagreement. But it was, unintentionally, a pretty honest metaphor as an HR Leader. A few lessons that showed up in practice: → You can't control the wind. You control the trim. → The straight line isn't always the fast one - sometimes you tack, giving ground to gain it. → Good coaching isn't grabbing the tiller at the first wobble. It's staying close enough to catch it if it really goes wrong. → It is not always about getting the task done - it’s about having the awareness to know when to adjust the sails, change course, and when the wind is telling you it’s time to rethink your direction. ⛵. Grateful to work somewhere that treats a day off as a real benefit, not a line item. Though the truth is, full-time motherhood doesn't take a day off - it just changes location for a few hours :-). #HR #HRBP #VeeaMeDay #Leadership

Yesterday I had the honour of speaking to graduates from the School of Business, Law and Entrepreneurship, and the School of Science, Computing and Emerging Technologies at one of Swinburne University of Technology graduation ceremonies at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Sitting on stage alongside Chancellor John Pollaers OAM and Interim Vice-Chancellor Simon Ridings . Watching the pride on every face as names were called. Hearing the calibre of research behind each PhD being conferred. Walking in with the academic procession to a rendition of Waltzing Matilda played on bagpipes and didgeridoo — genuinely one of the more unexpected and moving moments I’ve experienced. 535 new Swinburne alumni crossed that stage, celebrated by 1,634 guests, alongside the incredible faculty, alumni and organising teams who made it all happen. And in the audience, my own family. To every graduate: the world is genuinely lucky to have you in it. Stay curious | keep learning | say yes | don’t fear failure | find yourself a wing person | practice reframing and be unmistakably imperfectly gloriously human. 🔦Spotlight: Dani Nikolic -Cloud Architect, Logicalis AU We’re thrilled to shine a light on Dani Nikolic from our returning sponsor Logicalis Asia Pacific - and to share a story so many grads tell us they need to hear. Dani didn’t start in tech. She studied chemical engineering, tried business analyst/sales support roles, and felt…well, bored. What pulled her toward technology was the bit many of us secretly love: the constant learning. Just when you think you’ve mastered something, along comes a new service in cloud, AI, or even quantum, and the chase begins again. Her first break into IT? A role she “shouldn’t” have gotten if you read the job description (hello, 15 years’ experience requirement). What she brought instead was everything great engineers and leaders are made of: ✅Clear communication ✅Openness and adaptability to change ✅Curiosity and the courage to ask questions ✅The honesty to say, “I don’t know...yet” (and then figure it out) ✅The confidence to speak up when something can be done better Dani’s reminder to aspiring women in tech (and anyone eyeing a career pivot): Feeling underqualified is common, and it holds far too many back. Your so-called “soft skills” are not soft at all. They’re high-leverage skills this industry needs more of. To grads and early-career women: reach out to the women you know in tech. Ask about their paths. Most of us are happy to share what we’ve learned and to help where we can. (Dani included.)
