It has been a privilege to work with Melinda Cruz - thank you for sharing your story and visiting us in Perth! Learning about your experiences as a mum and professional advocate is a powerful reminder of why this work matters, and the real impact of the problem we are trying to solve. At VitalTrace, we’re developing DelivAssure, the world’s first continuous fetal lactate monitor, to improve intrapartum monitoring and make childbirth safer. We’re grateful to have had the opportunity to share our work with you as we work toward a shared goal of improving outcomes for families everywhere.
When I was in labour with Elijah, one of the devices used to monitor him was a fetal scalp electrode. I'd never heard of it before. It was used to see how he was doing during a long 32-hour labour and it gave a better picture than the CTG machine alone. More than two decades later, VitalTrace is working to advance this type of monitoring by developing technology designed to provide earlier and more information into a baby’s wellbeing during labour. While in Perth for the Perinatal Society of Australia and New Zealand (PSANZ) Congress, I was invited to visit the VitalTrace head office and share my story and perspective on their work as a parent and lived-experience advocate. I had goosebumps meeting the people behind the project and seeing the work happening behind the scenes. This will be game changing for families like mine. VitalTrace Chief Medical Officer Professor Jonathan Morris also spoke throughout the Congress about advances in fetal monitoring and the future of maternity care. I’m really proud to help provide a parent voice on this work. You can too. As part of the project, we’re inviting expectant parents and new families to complete a short survey to help shape this new technology: 🔗 https://shorturl.at/vYSSS #delivery #labour #pregnancy #motherandbaby www.vitaltrace.com.au https://lnkd.in/gAbU9s-k
