AI readiness for the real world of work.

About us

Synlayer helps operational organisations prepare for practical AI adoption in the real world of work. We work with leaders to understand whether their people, workflows, assets, governance and operating model are ready to adopt AI safely, practically and profitably. From energy and utilities to agriculture, infrastructure, logistics, field services and customer operations, AI is moving beyond office productivity and into the systems that keep organisations running. Synlayer’s AI Workforce Readiness Diagnostic helps organisations identify readiness gaps across leadership, workforce capability, workflow integration, culture, governance, risk and value realisation. Beyond the demo. Into practice.

  • Deloitte is calling it “AI pilot fatigue.” Deloitte highlights that only 25% of organisations successfully transition 40% or more of their AI pilots into actual production The clarity battle is on! Which opportunities are worth pursuing, what’s actually ready to scale, and how to turn experiments into measurable value? If you have too many pilots, not enough prioritisation, unclear ownership and weak workflow redesign, there's no real path from experimentation to adoption. That’s exactly why we built the 30-Day AI Value & Adoption Blueprint. A practical way to move beyond AI curiosity and start making better decisions about where value actually sits. The Blueprint focuses on 7 steps: 1. Clarify the business outcome - Start with the number or problem that needs to move — not the tool. 2. Identify the highest-value opportunities - Separate interesting ideas from genuine business priorities. 3. Assess readiness - Look at people, process, technology, governance and leadership readiness. 4. Validate workflow fit - Find where AI can reduce friction, save time or improve quality in real work. 5. Define ownership and guardrails - Be clear on decision-making, accountability, risk and governance early. 6. Prioritise what to scale - Choose the initiatives with the strongest mix of value, feasibility and readiness. 7. Build the next-step roadmap Turn insight into a practical 90-day direction, not another vague AI discussion. The next phase of AI won’t be won by the organisations running the most pilots. It will be won by the ones making better decisions about where AI fits, what needs to change, and how value is actually realised. • Every week we speak with leaders who are experimenting with AI. ✔ They've run workshops. ✔ Purchased licences. ✔ Tested copilots. ✔ Built a few prompts. Yet six months later they're asking the same question: "Why hasn't this changed the way we work?" It's that AI has been introduced without first understanding where the biggest opportunities exist, how work actually happens, or what needs to change for adoption to stick. That's why we created the 30-Day AI Value & Adoption Blueprint. Rather than starting with technology, we start with the business. Over 30 days we help organisations: • Understand what's already happening across the business • Identify where AI can create genuine business value • Prioritise the opportunities worth pursuing • Assess readiness across People, Process, Technology and Governance • Leave with an executive-aligned 90-day roadmap Because before you scale AI...You need to know what's actually worth scaling. Are AI tools and pilots multiplying across your organisation—but leadership still can’t agree on which ones are worth pursuing? Employees are using ChatGPT and Copilot. Vendors are presenting new platforms. Teams are launching their own experiments. But without clear priorities, that activity can quickly become duplicated effort, scattered investment and pilots that never make it into everyday work. The solution isn’t another list of AI ideas. Leadership needs to make three decisions: > Which opportunities are most likely to create practical value? > What needs to be true for people to adopt them successfully? > What actions, owners and measures are required over the next 90 days? Three priorities. Clear ownership. One practical 90-day plan. Our latest article explains how to move from disconnected AI experimentation to focused action. • Thanks to EY insights we can clearly see some countries appear to be embracing AI quickly. Others are taking a far more cautious approach. Neither is necessarily right or wrong, but it does highlight that adoption is about far more than access to the technology. McKinsey & Company reports that around 65% of organisations are now using generative AI in some form, yet IBM found only 47% are implementing it at scale. That gap says a lot. It's one thing to experiment with AI. It's another to embed it into the way people work.

  • While governments debate standards, frameworks and offices of AI, most organisations are still struggling with much simpler questions: Where can AI actually create value? Which workflows should change first? How do we prepare our workforce? How do we measure success? The reality is that AI isn't being held back by a lack of regulation. It's being held back by a lack of organisational readiness. We've spent the last two years talking about the technology. The next two years will be about productivity. What are your challenges? How can we help? Start here with a free AI Snapshot > https://lnkd.in/gua-gAkM https://lnkd.in/gRnXsqvF #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #FutureOfWork #Productivity #Leadership #Innovation #DigitalTransformation #AIAdoption #Synlayer

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reversed Labor’s hands-off approach to the regulation of artificial intelligence, announcing new Australian standards for the technology and a new Office of AI within his own department. On Wednesday, Albanese declared that embracing AI would boost economic growth and job opportunities, but that it would have to be done in a way that complies with Australian values. “The fact that we cannot stop change does not render us powerless," Albanese told an audience at the University of Sydney. "Far from it, our power, our agency, our choice lies in embracing change and shaping it, not just adopting or accommodating AI [but] designing it, [and] making it.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/dJxwnd7y

  • New free resource for Australian retail owners and managers. Retail businesses are under pressure from every direction. Rising costs. Staff shortages. Admin overload. Customer expectations. Systems that don’t talk to each other. Owners and managers stuck solving the same operational problems week after week. The result? Too much time gets lost in the work that keeps the business running — and not enough time is left to improve, grow, or step back and see what needs to change. That’s why we created the Retail Productivity Playbook. A practical guide to help retail businesses: → Identify where time is really going → Spot workflow friction and repeated effort → Find quick wins that reduce pressure → Understand where automation could help → Create more capacity without adding more complexity → Build a simple roadmap for improvement This is not an AI hype guide. It’s a practical productivity playbook for retail owners and managers who want to work smarter, improve how the business operates, and create room for growth. • AI capability is moving fast, but the conditions around it are not always keeping up. Jae Lloyd shares an insight many organisations can probably relate to right now: The opportunity is obvious. AI can help automate tasks, redesign workflows, analyse processes and support faster decision-making. But the challenge is becoming less about where AI could be used, and more about where it should be used. That means asking whether the organisation is actually ready to absorb the change. Are leaders aligned on the value they are trying to create? Are teams ready to work differently? Are workflows clear enough to improve? Is governance keeping pace with experimentation? And are organisations measuring real outcomes, or just activity? • Most organisations are still stuck in pilots, disconnected tools, and unclear ownership. The Synalyer diagnostic is designed to cut through that and provide a clear view of: ► Current AI readiness ► Capability and workflow gaps ► Risks and blockers to adoption ► Practical next steps to improve value realisation It takes a structured view across strategy, capability, process, governance, and execution to highlight what needs to change for AI to work inside the business, not just sit alongside it. • AI adoption doesn’t usually fail because the tool is bad. It fails because the organisation wasn’t ready for it. The workflows were messy. The people weren’t enabled. The leadership wasn’t aligned. The process was already broken. The value was never properly measured. The AI Realist is where we unpack this layer of adoption — the bit between AI ambition and operational reality. Because before you scale, you need to check the wiring.
