For a lot of men, conversations about health don’t come easily. During Men’s Health Week, some of our people shared their own experiences to help get them started. From ways they look after their physical and mental health, to personal journeys through health battles, thanks to everyone who shared their stories in the interest of supporting their workmates. As Mohamed Sulaiman put it, “Talking about your health is good for your health. It’s very manly.”

The joining of Multiplex with Obayashi represents nearly 200 years of global construction experience, creating one of largest construction players in the world.     Most importantly, it forms a strong relationship built on shared values, goals and culture.    Members of the Obayashi executive team visited our Sydney office this week, hosting a town hall for our team alongside our Global CEO John Flecker.   Following a brief history of the 130-year construction contractor, our people heard directly from Obayashi’s Vice Chairman Mr Sasagawa about the shared goals and opportunities ahead when the acquisition concludes in the final quarter of this year.   “It was a pleasure to welcome Obayashi to Sydney, following a significant period of due diligence where all businesses have got to know each other and assessed the cultural, operational and strategic fit,” said John.    “As we make the move to our new ‘forever home’ with Obayashi, this period of working together has given me great confidence that there is clear alignment of our values and significant opportunity ahead.”    Multiplex’s relationship with Obayashi dates all the way back to the late 90s, working together on the delivery of Stadium Australia for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. A shared focus on safety, quality and operational excellence saw the project delivered three months ahead of schedule.    “Obayashi share a similar history to Multiplex, known for being a reliable construction partner that has evolved with and led the industry through decades - even centuries - of change,” said John.     “With global reach and the ability to share world’s best practice in construction and new technologies, it’s exciting to be moving into the future at Multiplex."

A milestone moment for Multiplex. We’re excited to confirm that Obayashi Group, one of the world’s leading construction companies, has finalised an agreement to purchase our business from Brookfield. It marks the next chapter in our evolution and creates one of the most significant construction groups in the world. “Obayashi brings significant engineering expertise and global capability, viewing Multiplex as the perfect fit for its long-term global growth strategy,” said Multiplex Global CEO John Flecker. “Importantly, it is business as usual for our clients, partners and people. Our operations, projects and brand remain unchanged, and our leadership team will continue to lead the business into its next chapter.  “We will continue to operate independently, while benefiting from the strength of our new owner.” With a 130-year history, Obayashi strengthens Multiplex’s platform by providing access to global markets, technical knowledge and expanded opportunities for its people and partners.  We are proud of what Multiplex has achieved and the culture we have built. With Obayashi’s backing, we are well positioned to build on that success and continue delivering for our clients and communities.

Three of the highest-capacity luffing tower cranes in the world are rising at NEXTDC’s S4 Sydney 🏗️ 💪   With support from Marr Contracting, the first M2480D has arrived on site. At peak the site will operate six tower cranes including three M2480Ds, marking the first time Multiplex has engaged cranes of this capacity on any project globally.   The heavy lifters are needed to install the significant volume of prefabricated and precast elements for S4, including lift cores, electrical switch rooms, mechanical plantrooms and façade elements. Configured in a two-fall arrangement with a 30-metre fly extension, each crane can achieve a 22-tonne lift at a 102-metre radius, a remarkable combination of reach and capacity.   With safety a core focus, the team will also deploy Roborigger and THE BUDDIE SYSTEM (TBS). With a 50 tonne capacity, Roborigger enables riggers and dogmen to control loads wirelessly from a safe distance, helping reduce critical risks and increasing lifting windows for loads affected by wind. The Buddie System provides a backup communication tool for crane crews, allowing ground teams to instantly signal an emergency stop if radio contact is lost.   Another milestone achieved safely and successfully – congratulations to the team! It’s a huge step forward in the delivery of one of Australia’s largest hyperscale data centres. #builttooutperform #NEXTDC

Do you see a rainbow? 🌈 The Progress Pride flag is flying high on our sites across the globe, as we mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). It’s a powerful symbol of our commitment to stand against discrimination in the construction industry. Our Outperforming Pride @ Multiplex network recently spoke about why visibility on site and supporting our colleagues is so important – listen to what they had to say. #constructabetterfuture #idahobit2026

From digital models to live construction Multiplex recently welcomed a group of Humber College Architectural Technology students to our Etobicoke Civic Centre project for a behind the scenes look at how BIM and VDC come to life on site. At Multiplex, our model first approach is more than a process. It is how we build with accuracy, clarity, and safety from day one. During the visit, students saw how Virtual Design and Construction helps turn complex ideas into real, buildable outcomes. From watching cranes and formwork in action to seeing how digital models bring teams together and support smarter decisions before work even starts, the visit offered a true real-world perspective. Experiences like these are essential in preparing the next generation of construction professionals. Thank you to the students for the thoughtful questions and great energy on site. #MultiplexCanada #BuiltToOutperform

NEXTDC B2 Brisbane Stage 2 is levelling up in Brisbane! ⚡️   Construction has reached Level 3 on the AI-ready data centre, with structure and services advancing concurrently through prefabrication and off-site construction methods. 🏗️Over 300 precast concrete panels will be installed 🏗️12 prefabricated wet‑services (hydraulic) risers are enabling vertical services installation to progress in parallel to the structure.   These rises span levels 3 to 8 and are shared across four trades. Fabricated off site and lifted in two 20‑metre sections, the risers reduce work at height, minimise scaffold interaction and support controlled installation.   A strong example of coordinated delivery improving safety and efficiency as the project continues to progress. #builttooutperform

Shovels are in the ground, and construction is officially underway at NEXTDC S4 Sydney 👏 The milestone was marked with an official sod turning alongside NEXTDC Group Chief Development Officer Simon Cooper and a smoking ceremony led by Uncle Colin Locke. In the months ahead, the team will install the first of six tower cranes. Tower Crane 1 will be the largest tower crane ever used on a Multiplex site, a Marr M2480D, to support construction of the 350 megawatt data centre. With the team using the latest innovative modular construction methods to accelerate the build, the crane will lift major elements into place, including prefabricated mechanical plantrooms, electrical switch rooms and major services pathways, alongside extensive precast elements. S4 Sydney is the fourth project to be delivered by Multiplex in New South Wales for NEXTDC, and there are exciting times ahead as we bring this AI-ready facility out of the ground! #builttooutperform #NEXTDC

Some of construction’s most exciting innovations are coming out of data centre delivery, and that was none more evident than at the Data Centre Leaders Summit in Sydney this week.   Our Regional Director Frank McMahon spoke on Multiplex’s experience in accelerating data centre construction, from ECI and pre-planning providing delivery certainty, to integrating digital coordination and modular solutions for a more efficient build.   This approach is helping us to deliver over $2b in data centre projects globally, providing our clients with accelerated and flexible programs able to quickly adapt to future tenant needs.   As the next round of AI-ready data centres come to market, we’re continuing to look for the next-generation solutions to build them in a smarter, safer way. #builttooutperform

International Women’s Day is a time for everyone to reflect on progress towards gender equality. For us, our people's lived experience is the best measure of how we're going.   This IWD, we asked some of our people to reflect on our recent employee experience survey results – particularly, digging deeper to see where some of our results differ between men and women and why.   Thanks to everyone who shared their stories and real reflections for this video. Some of the stories behind the stats are eye opening, and show the work we still need to do to balance the scales in construction.
