2. How did you find out about LJ (or DW)?
i don't recall where i heard about LJ. maybe on the stargate: sg-1 section of the scifi.com (now syfy) forums? i heard about DW when i was lurking & commenting with an open-id thing on LJ & [personal profile] zats_clear asked if i wanted an DW invite code. i was like; sure, & that's how i got an DW account.

it's public. i rarely talk about anything super personal.

see what other people said over here. (the DW set is at [community profile] thequestionclub . i don't know if that is a mistake or not.) ETA: it was a mistake & the link now goes to the friday 5 community post.

1. Do you consider yourself to be a good housekeeper? Why or why not?

the place is not a pigsty, but i could do better.

2. Are there any household chores that you enjoy doing? If so, what and why?

doing dishes. i wash by hand & no matter how much i scrub around, there is always a spot that got missed.

4. When doing household chores, what do you do to make them seem less of a "chore"?
nothing. i just grit my teeth and get it done.

5. Which chore do you find yourself doing most often, and why?

1. What is your favourite fruit?

2. What is the last book you read?
the lost city of the monkey god by douglas preston

3. Do you like any of your school photos?
no.

4. Do you ever blowdry your armpits to get the deodorant to dry quicker?
no. i use stick deodorant, not roll-on. and i would think that blow drying your deodorant would end up reducing the scent of it.

5. What was the last film you watched?
on tv; thunderbolts, or spider-man: across the spiderverse, i forget which. in theaters; the world is not enough.

This week's questions were suggested by [livejournal.com profile] canuckfetish .

1. Have you ever stayed in a hostel? If so, where? Did you like it? If you haven't stayed in a hostel, would you?
i've never been. i would not stay in one, i don't want to share a room with strangers. i don't even want to share with my brother (separate beds, of course), but we do to save money. besides, i'm too old to go to one now.

2. What is your favo(u)rite airport that you've been to? Why?
i've only been to 5 & i would not say i had a favorite among them. i will say that just before we went to atlanta for the first time i overheard this guy tell an older couple that hartsfield–jackson was the worst airport in the country. we thought it was OK, but i guess it's different if you have to spend hours there, or travel a lot.

3. What is the best museum you have visited on vacation?

i've only been to 2 the world of coke in atlanta (nothing special) & the los angeles county museum of natural history. not much there & what is there had bad lighting, so that's probably why it was $9 in 2009.

4. Have you ever made friends while traveling whom you keep in touch with on a regular basis?
no.

5. Have you ever had a conversation with a seatmate on a plane?
no. thankfully the 3 times i flew (6, with the round trips) i was with my brother and talking to him is not horrible.

ghostbusters (1984), jurassic park, the blues brothers, ferris bueller's day off, patriot games.

4. Name four areas of interest you became interested in after you were done with your formal education.
ancient rome, ancient greece, ancient egypt, medieval europe.

3. Name three things you would change about this world.
tax the rich, give poor people money, end wars.

2. Name two of your favorite childhood toys.
i do not think i really had any.

1. Name one person you could be handcuffed to for a full day.
scott bakula. not for any dirty reasons, but from what i hear he's a decent guy & hopefully would not be hostile about it.

This week's questions were suggested by [livejournal.com profile] silent_r_infork .

1. What was the most sick that you've ever been?
i had tonsillitis (or something similar) when i was 12. it really hurt to swallow and i was very weak.

2. What disease are you afraid of getting?
all of them, really.

3. Are you a big baby when it comes to taking medicine/shots for your illnesses?
if it's a big pill i have to swallow, or some nasty cold medicine, yes. also, any kind of shots. especially any that i'd have to do myself. i've heard that getting ones in the stomach area are bad too.

4. Is going to the doctor really THAT bad?
it depends on the doctor's attitude. and what kind of doctor you have to go see. anything that you have to get naked, or particularly naked, for is pretty bad.

5. Would you have the flu twice a month if you were paid $1,000 for having it?
it depends on the severity of symptoms and how long they would last. 5-7 days of mild symptoms would be ok, but if it's for 2 weeks you'd be constantly sick. even with mild symptoms that would be tiring.
and is this $1,000 per bout of sickness? or $1,000 per month?
if it was 5 days of mild symptoms & $1,000 per bout of sickness, then i might do it.

1. How far back can you trace your family tree?
just to grandparents on my mother's side & great-grand parents on my dad's side, both his mother's & father's sides. one of the things i want to do if i win a multi-millions lotto is pay to have my family tree researched.

2. What is the most interesting (or strange) thing you've heard about one of your relatives?
one of my dad's great-uncles came over from what was the austro-hungarian empire (what became Poland, maybe?), but couldn't get into the U.S. for some reason. so, he went to canada & when some great lake froze over in the winter, walked across it into this country. things were fine for about 3 years, he lived with his sister (dad's grandma) who had a boarding house & worked in a coal mine or something. then one night he got into a bar fight, was arrested, they found out that he was here illegally & sent him back to the austro-hungarian empire.
he became a priest, was sent on a mission to south america & was never heard from again. no one is sure if; 1. he just didn't write to anyone, 2. the locals didn't appreciate being preached at & killed him, 3. he died of a tropical disease, or 4. he gave up the priesthood & just lived a non-religious life.

3. How do you feel about legacy names like John Henry Smith IV or naming children after other relatives?
they're ok.
i wonder how far down the number like does the average person (not royal or rich) go before giving up on the name? the fourth, the fifth?

4. Would you consider yourself and/or your family to be traditional?
i don't follow any "family traditions" if that's what this means.

5. What is one tradition you have passed on to your children and/or plan to pass on to them?

i have no children, nor do i want to. and would have no traditions to pass down if i did.

no.

5. Do you have any saved newspaper clippings?
i had 2 letters to the editor published in the local paper, so i have the pages those appeared on. i also got 2 letters published in tv guide* & i have those issues.

it depends on what the company was doing & how much they pay & the benefits.
