Ten things about me that you should know, or might be interested in knowing, if you read my journal.

1. I am female, in body, soul and mind. I don't place much stock in other people's genders, though. I like or dislike people based on who they are and how they are like, not what gender or sex they are. You're transgendered? Good for you for having figured it all out for yourself! That's... really all that matters.

2. English is not my first language, although I'm extremely fluent. My first language is Finnish. I began studying English at school at age nine (although I already knew some from gaming) and continued through all of compulsory schooling. I even majored in English for two years at university. I consider myself semi-lingual, in that I seem to function best in a mix of English and Finnish. I also know Swedish, German and Latin.

3. I am not in fandom. Yes, I consider myself a fan of many things, but I don't consider myself "in fandom" for any. I occasionally enjoy discussing series, books, movies, games, whathaveyou, but I neither read nor write fanfiction, or participate in any fandom-based roleplaying. I have fundamental objections to fanfiction, but it only applies to me. Anyone else is free to do what they like - just don't expect me to participate.

4. I have a tendency to be loud, garish and put my foot in my mouth a lot. This doesn't affect my online persona quite as much as my real-life persona, but I'm still warning you. I converse in snark and sarcasm and 90% of the time, mean no ill - it's just how I am. (I like to think that if I mean to offend you? You're bloody well going to know it, and no doubt about that.)

5. I am a library paraprofessional by education, although I currently work in a game store. I love libraries, and catalogs, and sorting things, and finding stuff for people. Library work is, if not my dream job, then at least damn near perfect for me.

6. I am a geek. I game, I read comics, I grok Latin, I adore the Silmarillion, I squee about open-source, I do librarian-y things in my spare time.

7. I am bisexual and polyamorous. Neither of these labels that I choose to apply to myself mean that I must at all times have multiple boy- and girlfriends. I can be, and have been, just as happy in a heterosexual, monogamous relationship. It's all about the individual involved, and the circumstances at the time. Being bipoly just means that I am capable of loving more than one person at a time, regardless of their sex/gender.
