Going beyond: DW trainees take journalism to new frontiers
For three weeks, the recent cohort of DW trainees took part in Journalism, Beyond Journalism, an exploratory journey centered around creative and experimental modes of journalism.
The premise: For over two centuries, journalism followed a rather rigid structure of conducting research, gathering evidence and producing a report, be it text, audio or video. But in a world where anyone can reach a global audience without journalistic training, what can only a journalist still add?
The trainees had to answer this question for themselves, but they were guided through the process by trainers Idil Galip and Marcus Bösch. By the end, they each came up with their own product, reaching from a murder mystery aperitivo based on real political events to an interactive, cultural food map of London.
The trainees will also be presenting their concepts at the upcoming b° future festival, October 1-3 in Bonn.
