Between Disruption and Innovation Solutions for Independent Journalism in the Age of AI
The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Belgium, Martin Kotthaus, and Deutsche Welle Akademie are delighted to invite you to a panel discussion on Solutions for Independent Journalism in the Age of AI.
Artificial intelligence and the growing market power of digital platforms are fundamentally reshaping journalism and pose serious challenges to the sustainability and independence of public-interest media. At the same time innovative approaches from around the world demonstrate how this creates new opportunities.
The event will explore concrete solutions for strengthening independent journalism in an AI-driven media ecosystem, examine how fairer relationships between media and technology companies can be established, how journalistic content can be protected and monetised, and where common international standards are needed.
The discussion will also consider how international partnerships, including the Media Freedom Coalition, can contribute to ensuring that AI governance supports media freedom, pluralism and the long-term viability of independent journalism.
